Still no Women's Health Champion 17 months later.

www.sundaypost.com/fp/17-months-later-nothingthe-timeline/

6 women 'invited to interview', handpicked by the Scottish Government. Position was not advertised. How very transparent.

Lots of mentions of women and girls in the linked piece and how lovely to see those words instead of menstruators, uterus-havers and all the other dehumanising rubbish terms.

Could this be buried because they don't want to have to answer the question 'and how are you defining woman here?'. Because if the answer is 'anyone who says they are' then the entire project will be worthless. And women and girls will lose out yet again.

I suspect so. Possibly also because if they used what seems to the officially preferred language of 'those with a cervix' (as used by NHS Scotland), then the average person on the street really would go 'hang on, what?'

All of that. Imagine that would go down well. But anything is possible in Scotland now.

Cynical, me. I'm tempted to suggest they couldn't find the right (Scottish government approved) kind of woman for the post.

Waitwhat23 · 02/01/2023 23:04

The fact the Scottish Government have handpicked candidates rather than using headhunters (or heaven forbid, actually advertising the post!) would seem to suggest so. Either an already chosen candidate (we can probably guess who), someone fully willing to follow the party line or...a man.

This was my first thought too (plus every question will be "how do you define woman") although we really shouldn't assume the SNP aren't just this phenomenally incompetent 😩

Maybe Period Poverty man was supposed to get promoted into the role & they haven't been able to regroup 😂

Last I heard (September) he was planning a sex discrimination claim against those who employed him.

Of course! Probably a hate crime too...

Mind you does sex discrimination even exist in Scotland now? Gender noticing?!
