Ideological Capture in NHS report

Policy Exchange (the right wing think tank) have published a report today stating that the NHS is respond ideologically.

policyexchange.org.uk/publication/gender-identity-ideology-in-the-nhs/

PE is an ideological organisation whose ideology tends to be different to mine but it is a think tank and doesn't claim to be neutral.

I expect many will dismiss this report and/or suggest it provides further evidence of Tories wanting to dismantle the NHS. There could well be truth in this - as there is in the report.

The Telegraph quotes a letter from an NHS Chief Executive in Bristol. What I found particularly chilling is that that woman is not willing to use the term "sex" to answer complaints that women are not allowed to choose to be treated by a female clinician. She states that "clinicians are not required to disclose their gender identity". In this context, she is clearly referring to biological sex, not gender identity, but it seems that she cannot bring herself to say "sex", and prefers to write something that makes absolutely no sense. She also doesn't explain what "fully transitioned to their preferred gender" means.
"According to a letter seen by the think tank Policy Exchange, North Bristol NHS Trust is unable to guarantee patients will receive treatment by a clinician of the same-sex if requested.
The letter, written by the former chief executive of the trust, Evelyn Barker, in February 2021 also suggests the trust does not require clinicians to disclose their sex.
In response to a series of complaints from a member of the public regarding the trust’s policies and practices, Ms Barker set out how it secures “informed patient consent in accordance with the law”.
The letter said that details about the clinicians involved in a patient’s treatment may be relevant to a patient when making informed consent.
“However there is no requirement for clinicians to disclose their gender identity,” it said.
It added: “The Trust accepts that there may be some exceptions where a transgender person will be expected to disclose their gender identity such as where they are required to undertake personal care on vulnerable people.”
“This statement will be rare and, where the staff member has their Gender Recognition Certificate and is fully transitioned to their preferred gender, this will not apply,” it added."

Bristol has so much form. there was a long thread about the behaviour of the CCG that covers Bristol. They were forced to revise their guidelines in the end but they clearly haven’t changed their thinking or culture

Another situation in which a GRC confers privilege and advantage and a higher degree of rights than a person who will be affected by this legal fiction, and another reason why the GRCs have to go. And at this point, I don't care about grandfathering clauses or anything else, in the face of this total lack of compassion or sense. They can just go now.

This will quite simply exclude female patients from health care rather than emotionally discomfort male health care professionals. It is flat out sex based discrimination now.

And that sets aside that any male health care professional who when faced with a patient in need, quite possibly a rape victim, who feels the most important thing is a game of 'I do believe in fairies', should not be employed in that role. Any more than someone who is not able to provide marriage services to homosexual couples should be employed in a position where their belief system may clash with the person in front of them, distress everyone, and prevent the job actually being done.

The GRC must be abolished and the GRA repealed. The whole thing is now absurd, and we are not having it.

It certainly has become a textbook example of the (Voltaire?) quote:

Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.

There really does seem to be almost no limit to how much price they're willing to make women pay for this absurdity.
