Police Scotland publish report calling paedophiles MAPs

www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/scottish-news/anger-eu-project-sees-police-28841534?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar#comments-wrapper

It's the Scottish Daily Express though and I've always considered the English version a bit nuts. The article also blames the EU, so....big pinch of salt?

I wonder if paedophiles have broken into organisations like Stonewall, who advises the government and corporations, and now making paedophiles sound harmless?

At the same time, they are gearing society for men and women to no longer have safe spaces from each other.

All the Jimmy Saville's out there are probably clapping their hands in glee saying 'now then, now then'

sweetgrapes · 31/12/2022 01:52

It's in the telegraph too if you can read it - www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/12/30/scottish-police-call-paedophiles-minor-attracted-people-major/

sweetgrapes · 31/12/2022 01:55

Happy new year! Here's to a wonderful 2023 Hmm

atomsgirl · 31/12/2022 02:10

Erm... I think it's going to be an interesting year.

FOJN · 31/12/2022 06:39

The end of the DM article offers some clarification.

The use of MAP is a quote from commissioning documents from an EU consortium called the Horizon Project.

In September Police Scotland successfully lobbied the consortium to stop using MAP.

It's good its been picked up. Now we watch and make sure it doesn't appear in any documentation in the future.

The need for vigilance is relentless. I've been really patient waiting for the Conservatives to turn this juggernaut around but my patience is running out, they need to send a very clear message this year that they have more than just words to offer, I want to see action, I'd start with bringing a case against Stonewall for misrepresenting the EA.

I’m sure they have. Supporting the eroding of boundaries and safeguarding by saying any man is a woman, on their say so and in all circumstances, and anyone who disagrees must be abused, ostracized and, preferably, sacked, has given them a cause to unite behind Stonewall with. This erosion of boundaries, safeguarding and whistleblowing suits them well.

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 07:06

A spokesman for the force stressed that MAPs is not a term they routinely use to describe child abusers and said that its use in the report had to be understood in context.

I don't Fucking care.

No one should use MAP for PAEDOPHILE. NO ONE.

I wasn't raped by a minor attracted person I was raped by a paedophile.

So they can take their weasily words and

FUCK OFF

Atomsgirl, well, the impact on safeguarding is either a huge mistake which no one has properly noticed, or (given how often it has been pointed out) a feature…..

This was the closest I could get to the actual source when I looked yesterday. I still think there's no excuse for this and that if it was absolutely necessary to include the project, they should have re-worded it and instead included a footnote as to why they won't help normalise the term "MAP".

I agree, if the police in Scotland were lobbying for the term to be removed they could have edited the document or added a footnote themselves to make their own position crystal clear. I suspect some of the powers that be weren't as concerned as they say they are or should have been which is why I'm glad it's made the mainstream media.

It's a sorry state of affairs when it's the Express, Mail and Telegraph holding them to account.

I think there's another thread about a Scottish LGBT organisation that appointed a guy who was later found to be a paedophile and, iirc, raped a baby! I'm aghast that there seems to have been no big outcry or investigation into potential failures in safeguarding that allowed this to happen and the organisation seems to be carrying on with its reputation pretty much intact. So far.

Of course abusive men never pretend to be anything else, except every single time that they do.

Jesus christ.

Raped a baby? Wtaf. Is there a link to that thread, OP?

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 12:08

Kin hung??? Who knows what i was trying to write

Datun · 31/12/2022 12:08

Ugh. I was so bloody shocked the first time I saw that acronym on Twitter. Alongside NOMAP which stands for non-offending minor attracted person. Of course, they're all non-offending, aren't they? So won't mind handing over their hard drive on a weekly basis?

Paedophiles, rebranding themselves as non-offending people, with just a different kind of sexual attraction than everyone else.

On Twitter, they are allowed to put the ages of the children they are interested in, like 0 to 6 months.

No one can tell me this is not a massive, global drive to normalise child rape.

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 12:10

I'm feeling peckish anyone for PIE. I've got a brand new Marmalade And Pecan version or an old recipe from the 70s.

Door today's cryptic crossword post

Boiledbeetle · 31/12/2022 12:11

I'm fairly sure the recipes have been passed down to the new younger generation
