mixed comments: sort of half and half, people calling her a bigot and people who understand biology and exploitation.

JHB's tweet about Greta Thunberg and Andrew Tate was pretty horrible. Tate is a nasty misogynist who has now been arrested on suspicion of rape, whereas Thunberg is a teenager campaigning on climate change.

JHB was right, of course, about H from Steps, but then most people, regardless of political affiliation, understand that it's not possible to change sex.

MalagaNights · 30/12/2022 10:58

Ahh you really have got her there with the difference between life and lifestyle....well done.

And yes she's obviously revealed she supports sex trafficking. As she's evil.

CAJIE · 30/12/2022 11:03

Hate her but a big ageist comment.ageism the ism that gets ignored esp by the trans bullies

SinisterBumFacedCat · 30/12/2022 11:50

Ageism is the last form of bullying that people think is ok, stupid really because they are only a few years away from becoming a target themselves.

I disagree with 95% of JHB says but she’s bang on on H. If he hadn’t blocked everyone outside of his echo chambers on Boxing Day we wouldn’t know how fragile his convictions are. Presumably my one and only tweet questioning the logic of a grown arse man wearing size ZZ prosthetic breast whilst teaching children was too much for him.

A stopped clock is right twice a day.

Maybe so, but starting a post about a woman with "Farty old..." is disgusting, particularly from a poster who has been demanding politeness from us on other threads.

MoggyP · 30/12/2022 12:47

I'm surprised that people kept following JHB after she showed herself to be a rape apologist (Ched Evans)

Julie Hartley-Brewer vs H from Steps

Farty old social conservative who writes approvingly of Andrew Tate

vs

Progressive gay guy

No competition.

Amusing that hiring a woman's womb is progressive.

Did I say amusing, I meant creepy, creepy and entitled.

CocoLux · 30/12/2022 13:17

She's completely vile.

I'm not a fan of Julie, but there's something particularly sinister about men who think they have a right to rent a womb and buy a baby!

BedTaker · 30/12/2022 13:59

H also reckons he now knows more about women's menstrual cycles than women. Fuck. Off.

Julia Hartley Brewer is also a massive bellend who has said some really horrible stuff over the years.

DworkinWasRight · 30/12/2022 16:42

Looking at the online arguments about H and Tate, it seems to me that it simply demonstrates that there are many different ways of hating women.

JaninaDuszejko · 30/12/2022 16:50

I know nothing about JHB but can't understand what is progressive about choosing to rent a woman's sexual organs and buying babies.----

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/12/2022 18:20

Well Greta is now also transphobic, because according to all the “Trans mascs”on Twitter, using small dick as an insult “body shames” Trans men and equates masculinity with penis size thus invalidating Trans male vaginas.

Hahaha. Perfect.

Verite1 · 30/12/2022 20:16

Can I chose neither of them in this fight?

Her hero Andrew Tate was arrested this afternoon in Romania for human trafficking.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11583711/Andrew-Tates-luxury-villa-Romania-raided-police.html

I'm wondering what cognitive dissonance you would have to employ to regard it as progressive of a chap to rent/exploit women's bodies in one instance and not in another? Is it progressive depending on which chap is doing the using of a woman's body.

I'm wondering if it is cognitive dissonance or hypocrisy?

I'd rather not see any woman's body used or exploited in any way; either rented to have a baby with the aim to remove it at birth, or rented to be used in another way.

Needmoresleep · 30/12/2022 20:33

I don’t know too much about JHB except that a few years back when virtually no broadcasters would admit to being GC, she held her head high above the parapet.

Woman with opinions is vile….please spare me. Akin to saying that women should know their place. What has happened to this board? Suddenly it is awash with posters who seem to be telling us what to think, simply because they say so.

I like opinionated women. Listening to someone and working out whether I agree or disagree seems a more fruitful task than simply making my mind on the basis that some internet random tells me that this person is vile.

Alas poor H from Steps has opted for the latter and a terf blocker that ensures he does not come across opinions that are not in line with his own. Sensitive soul that he is.

Cailleach1 · 30/12/2022 20:42

@Needmoresleep Sensitive soul that he is.

I wouldn't associate sensitivity with someone willing to exploit/rent a woman's body; with the aim of removing the baby to boot. I'd be more inclined to think vain and self-centred.

Needmoresleep · 30/12/2022 20:44

I was referring to his as someone who, though on Twitter, was unwilling to view views other than those he agreed with. He does not sound very bright.

ThePoshUns · 30/12/2022 20:59

I disagree with much of JHB's opinions but she has always stood firm on the TWAW argument and has rightly called H out on his hypocrisy
Her comments about Greta are unacceptable however.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 30/12/2022 21:03

It's just a cruddy blocker algorithm that's got fuck all to do with being vocally GC. I don't tweet anything contentious as I use it for vaguely work related follows - still got blocked, which is probably more due to a combination of

  1. my shocking opinions upon the advisability of planting mint direct into the ground (don't do it),
  2. the fact I've tweeted on plants without a user name like 'GranddadBriansAtTheAllotmentAgain' and occasionally about The Archers makes it more likely I'm a middleaged woman and
  3. there are probably other middleaged people following me because of my radical mint exclusionary policies (requiring a third space insulated by at least an inch of ceramic and preferably locating on the block paved front path instead of out the back). As though there are no gay, trans, NB or people with other identities or sexualities into gardening and plants. Or cringing at the latest bollocks in Ambridge.
grapesaretheonlyfruit · 30/12/2022 21:25

Who cares who blocks who?
Andrew Doyle (ironically the host of Free Speech Nation on GB News) famously has 10,000 people blocked.

I do know what you meant (and the tone implied!) @Needmoresleep .

I just saw the word sensitive, and though how opposite to such an attribute it is to exploit a woman's body in such a way. But, exploitation of women is apparently what is being called 'progressive' by some.

Needmoresleep · 30/12/2022 22:20

Wasn’t the original terf blocker written by Aimee Challenor ex of the Greens, the LibDems, Stonewall’s Trans advisory committee, and former Reddit employee.

One day we need a ‘where are they now’ thread.
