In the Telegraph:

"While the legislation applies to Scots, MPs have warned in a letter to Mr Jack, seen by The Telegraph, that the bill will “threaten the legal basis on which women and girls are currently protected in the rest of the United Kingdom”, as well as posing “a real risk to the safety of women and girls in Scotland”.

Conservative MP Miriam Cates, <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/irBcJ/www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/09/28/labour-member-defended-rosie-duffield-transgender-views-booed/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Labour’s Rosie Duffieldd and the DUP’s Carla Lockhart, said in the joint letter that there remains “extreme ambiguity” about whether the so-called Gender Recognition Certificates in Scotland <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/irBcJ/www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/12/09/ministers-threaten-legal-action-fears-nicola-sturgeons-gender/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">have the same legal statuss elsewhere in the UK.

“There could foreseeably be a scenario by which someone changes their legal gender in Scotland and then acquires a new legal status in England, despite having never gone through the English gender recognition process,” they warned."

And:

"The MPs argued that such a change in the law relating to how a biological male could gain access to a Gender Recognition Certificate, stating that he is <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/irBcJ/www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/12/21/woman-not-costume-feeling-nicola-sturgeon-warned/" rel="nofollow" target="blank">legally a womann, “does not contain adequate safeguards and changes the law relating to the Equality Act”.

They also said that the legislation could put the <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/irBcJ/www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/10/05/scottish-trans-people-may-not-legally-recognised-rest-uk/" rel="nofollow" target="blank">UK Government in breach of its obligationss under the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women."

Thanks, OP.

Thank you. They all need to get off the fence because being on it tells me they've picked a side.

Yes. We keep hearing how they may do this or are thinking of doing that. It's testing the waters.

Surely by now they realise this bill is not only universally unpopular and most people think it's downright crazy, but almost everyone recognises that's it's a ploy by sturgeon to be divisive.

Ffs. A political ploy that's batshit crazy, horribly dangerous to women and girls and sacrifices them on the alter of a transparent power play, should have even the most cynical politician positively leaping off the fence like their arse is on fire.
