This German mainstream news article on what's happened in Scotland and the future for Germany makes for depressing reading:
"As can currently be seen in Germany, there were also protests and transphobic campaigns by opponents of the law in Scotland. A few days before the vote, there were disturbances from self-proclaimed feminists."
"There is no question that the German Bundestag will pass the Self-Determination Act with the traffic light majority. The Left Party is also in favour of this law and there are signals of approval from the ranks of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. Only the AfD takes sharp action against trans people and supports the current human rights violating legal situation."
The AfD from what I'm told are the Farage-type party.
It'll be interesting to see whether they put any safeguards in place, or, as in Scotland, don't bother.

The AfD is probably worse than Farage. One prominent member lost a court case and people can officially refer to him as a Nazi.

But yes, Germany is very much woke. There is very little debate, and old-school feminists like Alice Schwarzer who oppose this are given the JK Rowling treatment.

Why aren't the famously sensible Germans learning any lessons from what's happening in the US etc? Where are the grownups in Germany? Are the TRAs equally aggressive in Germany?

Germany is where this all kicked off in the 1920s, the Institute for Sexual Research, early patients like Dora Richter and 'Danish Girl' Lili Elbe. There isn't an English Language Wikipedia page for their surgeon, Erwin Gohrbandt, which you might think is surprising given his 'pioneering' role in all this, but a bit more research will show you why.

Anyone else notice the irony that the author is happy to conclude "self-proclaimed" feminists are not feminists despite their say so, but "self declared" women must be women on their say so alone?

GERMANY: Pregnant Woman Attacked by Trans Activists At Anti-Sex Trade Demonstration - Reduxx

Sorry, I posted too soon. In that redux article I thought this was interesting:
^One woman in particular had been a target for the activists – famed biologist and feminist Marie-Luise Vollbrecht.
Vollbrecht has become a lightning rod for trans activist aggression after a lecture that she was scheduled to present on the evolution of biological sex was cancelled earlier this year.^

Her talk, titled “Gender is not the same as sex: Sex, gender and why there are only two sexes in biology,” was intended to demonstrate her research in her main area of academic interest, which includes neurobiology and animal physiology.

Judging by the German stance on prostitution, I think they are in a far worse position than we are and it’s entrenched. They aren’t going to care about women.

Very depressing. Western democracies have failed. I wonder what's happening in Asian democracies?

Western democracies have not failed. They have fucked this up but I have faith in the long term they will correct.

Society may end up a different shape than if this ideology had never got a grip but I am confident the sheer reality of the different experiences and life outcomes for male and female people will ultimately be too overwhelming to ignore, and a grassroots movement for rights, opportunities and protections based on sex will again arise.
