This German mainstream news article on what's happened in Scotland and the future for Germany makes for depressing reading:
"As can currently be seen in Germany, there were also protests and transphobic campaigns by opponents of the law in Scotland. A few days before the vote, there were disturbances from self-proclaimed feminists."
"There is no question that the German Bundestag will pass the Self-Determination Act with the traffic light majority. The Left Party is also in favour of this law and there are signals of approval from the ranks of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. Only the AfD takes sharp action against trans people and supports the current human rights violating legal situation."
The AfD from what I'm told are the Farage-type party.
It'll be interesting to see whether they put any safeguards in place, or, as in Scotland, don't bother.
