I thought this was an interesting discussion. Oli's plastic surgery makes a lot more sense now. Oli comes across as intelligent and articulate. Plus, he's a bit terfy.

I don’t have time to watch this all at once but I’ve seen about 15 minutes of it. I agree, he does come across as intelligent and articulate and explains really well how people can get so easily swept up in this online world of different identities. I can totally see the temptation for children who struggle to fit in with their peers to try on a different identity and join a happy rainbow glittery community.
He also demonstrates the hypocrisy of wokesters who weren’t happy for him to identify as Korean but think men can identify as women and vice versa. Would they say my FIL isn’t allowed to be British despite having a British passport and living and working here for 60 years because he wasn’t born here? Or my mum isn’t really Irish because she’s lived and worked in England her whole life when she’s got an Irish passport and she was born there? She feels Irish, it’s her identity. It makes no sense at all.
I’ll try and watch the rest throughout the day, I think he’s an interesting young man, I’d never have given him a second glance before

I watched it last night and enjoyed it. I have to admit when all this Korean stuff was going on I thought he sounded a bit of a dick. However listening to him on Trig has changed my mind. I found the part about how big plastic surgery is in Korea particularly interesting and it puts into context what he did a bit more. I’m glad he seems to have come to terms with who he is and the surgery is stopping. I can see how for some it can be addictive. Also interesting how he was bullied at school for the way he looked. Glad they had him on.

Just listened to it while cooking. His points about the way in which plastic surgery and gender reassignment surgery are promoted as easy, commonplace and everyday on the internet are very concerning. It's easy to see how people who live in the virtual world, as he does, lose their grip on reality. Interesting that what gave him comfort and a sense of belonging was going to church. How many times have we concluded that gender ideology is a pseudo-religious movement?

I got around to watching this just now.

I couldn’t work out whether he was trolling when he did his ‘racial’ transition. He seemed like he was sending up self-ID, then he had all the surgeries and did a ‘gender’ transition- so it seemed less like trolling, and as though he had fallen victim to masochistically performing more and more extreme material for the likes.

This change around now, is a sobering lesson on how far down the rabbit hole a seemingly thoughtful, down to earth person, can go, if they spend much more time on social media than engaging with the real world. Especially if they are innocent people-pleasers like him. I need to keep a much closer eye on my kids. 😮

It’s so interesting, his journey to terfdom. He took such an unusual route. He seemed to be swept up in all the fun and glamour of social media as a form of happy escapism, without much reflection, then he just reflected.

He doesn’t appear to have changed at all as a person, he is still the same warm and positive personality, even though he’s moved onto more serious concerns.

Quite the enigma.
