Just heard this - it started at 7:48:50
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_fourfm
Interview by Nick Robinson, firstly with Karen Adam SNP MSP who is a supporter of the Bill.
Good questioning by NR and lots of waffle from KA
- there is no connection between getting a GRC and medical interventions, so not a problem for 16 year olds to have a GRC
- prison governors should make up their own minds about allowing male prisoners into female prisoners on a case by case basis
- Conclusion - the whole thing is nothing to do with sex offenders or predatory men, it is about allowing trans people to die with dignity in their chosen identity (what?)
Then Rachel Hamilton, Cons MSP who opposes the Bill, who talked about empirical evidence that predatory men will abuse a GRC to gain access to potential victims, the amendment that convicted rapists shouldn't get an GRC that was voted down was because it conflated male attackers with 'normal' trans people.
It is just so unbelievable that this Bill has been passed. A sad day.
