Just perusing the 100 great women list for 2022.

Why am I not surprised?

Includes at least two males.

Another day in clown world.

You might enjoy the #bbc98women hashtag that was popular on Twitter:

nauticant · 18/12/2022 20:17

I meant to add, that was a subversion of the "official" hashtag of #bbc100women.

Grammarnut · 18/12/2022 22:32

Since transwomen are men the BBC needs to stop being so obnoxiously woke and actually nominate women, not people with penises (even if removed). Efrat Tilma and Erika Hilton have no place on the 100 women list, especially as many actual women included are fighting sexual violence of horrific kinds, perpetrated by men.

KittensNotMittens · 19/12/2022 08:07

Who chose these people?

Who chose these people?

Because there will be a backlash if they don't. How dare women have a list to themselves let alone safe spaces.

ThePoshUns · 19/12/2022 08:09

Sorry I thought it was why not who?

KittensNotMittens · 19/12/2022 08:11

I want to know the process. One of those on the list has a history of hideous misogynistic behaviour.

Was this mentioned in the ‘why should your nominee be on the list?’ I assume there was a form or something.

sanluca · 19/12/2022 08:21

So basically 2% of the list lost to men. Quite jarring as both have done nothing for the improvement of lives of women, Efrat just was the 'first transwoman to'. At least Erika tried to improve the lives of people in general.

That next to all those women fighting to improve the lives of women with regard to rights, health, poverty and sexual violence, it is near to insulting to have them on there.

Elfholloway · 19/12/2022 12:57

Ugh... have the BBC responded at all?

Catiette · 19/12/2022 13:29

The cut’n’paste response to my complaint aligns precisely with quotes in media sources, so seems to be the soundbite settled on. I don’t know how they think this alleviates the issue: such outright dismissal of legitimate concerns arguably offers more evidence of there being an issue than the list itself!

It's absolutely fucking outrageous. One reason why we don't have a TV licence we refuse to fund BBC wokery.

In effect it reduces the 98 female people to props.

Because instead of celebrating women, it became a means to show the world that men are women too cos we say so, nyer, look at what we make you pay for and you can't stop us. (A quick summary of the BBC's response to women's voices on this matter.)

What mattered were the two men and the politics. The other 98 then lose all actual meaning or relevance beyond set dressing. As usual, it's all about females only being relevant in how they serve men's interests.

Delphinium20 · 19/12/2022 18:56

I'd like to know the 2 women bumped off this list to accommodate males. Surely, their cause or their work is important and I'd like to know them so I can learn and support if I can.
