Lots of references to it in other threads so I thought I'd put the link here for people who want to see it:

@IwantToRetire you’ve just said all this on another thread, followed by ‘I don’t care about this issue because it doesn’t affect me’
You are putting a lot of time into trying to stir up trouble for someone who doesn’t care. Trit trot trit trot

waterwitch · 16/12/2022 18:58

Sorry RoyalCorgi if I get your thread deleted, maybe get ready to put it back up? 💐

waterwitch · 16/12/2022 18:59

So people can still access the film

waterwitch · 16/12/2022 19:01

@MNHQ sorry, can you delete these posts - think I may have the wrong pp

@DameMaud

Can you imagine if we knew each other Grin

I live in a hopeful fantasy that I'm surrounded by invisible FWR's...

Ladyof2022 · 17/12/2022 03:24

The link is not working, and I really want to watch this film!

Ndd135632 · 17/12/2022 03:36

@IwantToRetire please just grow up. We have a war to fight. Stop creating internal team battles. We are all on the same side.

Ndd135632 · 17/12/2022 03:39

By the way that message it meant for ‘the other side’ too. Women need to now stand together to fight this ideology. We will do it in different ways and with different people and messages. And THAT’S FINE. I have only recently seen these internal battles and it feels petty and high school and cruel. We are all on the same side. Let’s support each other please.

The link is not working, and I really want to watch this film!

This is the original version of the documentary, which is on Vimeo not YouTube, but there were buffering problems towards the start and I don't know if they have been fixed:

"Adult Human Female"
vimeo.com/775343150

This copy on YouTube looks like it has been pirated as the YT Channel URL is "listentovenezuela" and there is no link in the video description to the company that made the documentary:

I do hope as many people as possible get to watch it - despite the fact that the combination of black and white branding and title are so close to "passing off" as a KJK production that trans activists have protested at least some screenings on that basis. If the film company was aware that it might be trading on her "brand" then they were presumably also aware of the risks that that might entail?

I have no idea what KJK had intended to call her documentary but if it was "Adult Human Female" then I do feel for her that this production has pipped her to the post.

However, it is counterproductive to make a fuss about it.

Not to be confused with: www.adulthumanfemale.store/

or KJK's documentary-in-the-making, "This is a Woman"

I thought the film conveys the message very well. However, I kind of wish the director/editor had focused on the interviews rather than the naff sound effects/clip art video segments. The interviews alone are really powerful and it was nice to see people stating their views in an interview format.

All this infighting is so tiresome. I don't really align politically with KJK but I admire her for her skills. I honestly think she is wasted doing womens' campaigns as she could be making a six figure sum working for some ad agency. She has great campaigning skills that get attention to the issue - for that I can admire her.

Interesting approach to what's valuable.

Sorry I felt someone should… 😬

RoyalCorgi · 17/12/2022 13:39

Apologies for posting duff YouTube link rather than the Vimeo one - it seemed to have a lot of comments so I thought it was kosher. Definitely use the one posted by bosky.

Stop with the fighting, there’s a bigger job in hand to be worrying about who said what and when. In fighting just weakens the cause. I don’t know much about the ins and outs of the argument, I just know that the more people that get the message out there the better. It’s a brilliant film.

“Keep up the struggle, comrades! Preferably against each other!” As I heard a rightwinger chortle while listening to lefties arguing.

There have always been disputes inside the feminist movement, as undoubtedly in every political movement in the world. But I remember that rightwinger’s glee, seeing very clearly how we squander our energy.

@IwantToRetire please just grow up. We have a war to fight. Stop creating internal team battles. We are all on the same side.

She didn’t create it though. If we want to be honest WPUK started it…

And this “grow up” patronising bullshit is getting tired.

To all those trying to silence @IwantToRetire , please make sure you do the same when it’s Posie who is being slagged off. Thanks

Fwiw I agree with @Floisme :
” I hope I can applaud this film and wish it a wide viewing, while still thinking that the title, given the lengths some of the women involved with it have gone to in order to distance themselves from anything to do with KJK, was a rather odd choice.”

I just watched it. It was brilliant (although I could have lived without the shagging squirrels) Sadly I suspect it will mainly be preaching to the converted but maybe it will speak to some of the be kind people who haven't given it too much thought, or those who are curious to know what all the fuss is about.

I absolutely loved seeing all those people who I only really know of via twitter, speaking and brought to life in front of the camera. They're all so impressive (was I the only one who kept rewinding the bleeped-out bit where Simon Edge names the people he hopes will be brought to account, to try and work out who he refers to?!)

I'll probably be told off for this but I also want to know what Karen Ingala Smith's fabulous lipstick shade is <runs away>

was I the only one who kept rewinding the bleeped-out bit where Simon Edge names the people he hopes will be brought to account, to try and work out who he refers to?!)

I think the names are Peter Tatchel and Owen Jones, in that order.

DirtyDuchess · 17/12/2022 17:35

I've heard its OJ and Cashman

Hulahulahulahoop · 17/12/2022 19:21

Yes the interviews were great but the sound effects and random shots pretty amateur-ish unfortunately. It’s a shame lots of big names (Kathleen Stock, Maya Forstater, Alison Bailey, Helen Joyce et al) weren’t interviewed and I’m only thanks to this thread finding out about the seeming issues with KJK which is a shame. Really enjoyed the interviews themselves though and particularly Lucy Masoud. Pedantic point but you say adult female deer, adult female elephant, surely it should be adult female human?! Thanks for the link regardless!

Bosky · 17/12/2022 20:25

OhMammaMia - "She didn’t create it though. If we want to be honest WPUK started it…"

I hardly dare ask but . . . just to clarify - do you mean the film??

Fwiw I agree with @Floisme :
”I hope I can applaud this film and wish it a wide viewing, while still thinking that the title, given the lengths some of the women involved with it have gone to in order to distance themselves from anything to do with KJK, was a rather odd choice.”

Yes. Jaw-dropping, eye-popping, through the looking glass, Grade A mind-fuckery.

Despite that, and that annoyingly amateurish "special effects", I still want people to watch it!

Ladyof2022 · 18/12/2022 06:47

Seen it now. Disappointed in various ways.

Hate the loud music, shagging squirrels, all the video clips. Waste of time, unnecessary and annoying.

Love the talking head BUT they should have presented more people instead of multiple clips of the same tiny group of people.

Glad to see Aja was included though.

Shinyredbicycle · 18/12/2022 07:37

Yeah, the special effects were a it random and a friend of mind who hasn't been involved in these discussions commented that it would have been helpful for different sections/topics to be signalled.

The consequence of two person, low budget film company who made it because they believe in its message.

But it was great to watch the London premiere in Conway Hall and hear the excellent panel discussion of Lucy Masoud, Joan Smith and Karen Ingala-Smith chaired by Shona D.

Thanks to WPUK as ever for amplifying lots of different women's voices.

cheshirecatssmile · 18/12/2022 08:20

Watched it last night. Why shagging squirrels? Lost me on that bit and the music. I digest.
Partner watched it with me and peaked. Everything I had told him he took with a pinch of salt. He was gob smacked especially the lady who was banned from a lesbian dating site for only wanting females.
Partner sat there and said but lesbians don't have a penis? Then asked if that made him a lesbian because he likes , you know natal females. Had to explain that one as well.
He now understands that it's heterosexual men with a fetish, that hard drives need checking and why don't people think it's suspicious that adults are encouraging children to take medications that they use on rapists for chemical castration. Why would adults want other adults to resemble children when their older?
He's now fallen down an internet rabbit hole.

unwashedanddazed · 18/12/2022 09:20

Like others I thought the special effects were stupid and distracting.

Loved hearing the voices of and seeing the many women I've been reading for years. Lucy Masoud was my stand out favourite of the bunch.

I do think it's preaching to the converted though. For example JCJ's brief mention of 'Sarah'. No context given, or illustration of the outrageous treatment Sarah has received since her case became public, or the legal proceedings. Savage editing I imagine, but more of that story and less sound effects and squirrels would have been a more useful illustration of the treatment of women in the face of gender ideology.

I also think KJK should at least have been mentioned in the credits as they used footage from her events. Also you would have to be an idiot to claim that title won't immediately bring KJK to mind, but that's the power of her message and skill at promotion and their inability to acknowledge her contribution to the cause.
