Cleveland Police invites you to celebrate Furries

This "amazing and unique artwork" has tweeted by Cleveland police and remains up - since 5 Dec.

twitter.com/clevelandpolice/status/1599766240716800002?s=46&t=6r6Eu6dev_pZCGgZGTUoaw

They are aware of online comments about it:

1/2 Cleveland Police is aware of the interest on social media in the recently published artwork. This is the artwork of a 14 year old girl who created the art following some positive engagement work with the Redcar and Cleveland Response Team.

twitter.com/ClevelandPolice/status/1600145470613061632
2/2 There is no hidden messaging or political statement being made in the art. It is an innocent design created by a young girl.

Please can we ask that people respect the talent and consider the impact the negative comments may have on such a young person.

But seemingly not aware that the account they link to, might well have fished them in. Created in Dec 2022, with a bio that includes: "@ Clevelandpolice are my heroes, please shoutout to them for spreading furry positivity". Sure, it could be a 14yo girl but if it is, do they know who she is and have they considered the impact of her spreading news of an adult sexual fetish? Have they considered that, if this is true, she might actually be in need of a safeguarding assessment?

Then there's the fact that the "furry" officer's radio appears to have a Nazi SS symbol on it. Is that appropriate "artwork" for the police to be spreading, or is that a cause for concern in what's purported to be a 14 yo girl?

If they have been fished in, then what does THAT say about the police?

Well, 'Ellie' sounds an absolute peach. I very much doubt that account is written by a 14 year old.

stillvicarinatutu · 07/12/2022 23:30

If I were the cop that had been "modelled" on I'd be having words with the media dept....

Numsmetbunfight · 08/12/2022 08:10

So many questions.

knittingaddict · 08/12/2022 08:57

Rightsraptor · 07/12/2022 22:43

Who says 'the police department '? Doesn't sound like British English to me. And as for 'the furry domination' - what on earth is that?

That and the gun make me wonder what is going on here.

knittingaddict · 08/12/2022 08:58

Thinking about it, where was "police department" mentioned?

Rightsraptor · 08/12/2022 09:36

I can't see 'department' now but I'm sure if was there in a quote from the artist, thanking the police department or something. I'm not on Twitter so can't delve too far in.

Buzzinwithbez · 08/12/2022 11:53

This makes no sense and something seems very off about it. They've shared a wolf in police clothing, so maybe they're being trolled.

If this is genuine, do the police not realise that on sharing a child's account they've opened her up to all sorts of safeguarding issues.

namitynamechange · 08/12/2022 11:58

The original artist might well be 14 or might not be. I think the Twitter account in her name isn't her though - it was created after the posting I think, probably just to troll. The fact the police don't realise this (or the fact that the image could be read several ways, or anything about the furry community, or that it probably isn't a great idea to post a child's artwork for internet criticism like that) suggests a quite cringeworthy level of naivety

TinFoilHatty · 08/12/2022 13:59

The Nazi insignia, I had thought it was deemed offensive in the UK?

Buzzinwithbez · 08/12/2022 17:37

Someone trolling them all the way

Proof Twitter is toxic.

ArabellaScott · 08/12/2022 17:48

Proof the police have been hoodwinked by one certain segment of the population and are being, I would say, wilfully obtuse in not seeing when they are being used to team fetishes with children's activities.

TheBiologyStupid · 08/12/2022 20:54

You just can't get the police dogs these days, so they're getting desperate....

They needed a diversion from the previous day's dog themed twitter post.

No wonder! Was PC Crutchley appearing as Kuro or Razor?!

IcakethereforeIam · 08/12/2022 21:17

If I were PC Furry Crutchley, I'd be furrious. Talk about being set up for ridicule.

Rightsraptor · 08/12/2022 21:27

@knittingaddict - you asked this morning where it said 'police department'.

Here:,

Rightsraptor · 08/12/2022 21:30

You can't see it there but it's from Ellie@trashytec to Cleveland police.

I find that image a bit weird. Don't think I'd like any 14yo daughter of mine sending to anyone, cops or not.

Rightsraptor · 08/12/2022 21:32

Oh just saw that @Buzzinwithbez got there first!

DameMaud · 08/12/2022 21:57

I'm totally confused by this thread/implications... But intrigued! Please can someone explain in lay-persons terms what this is all about?? Maybe its another rabbit hole I don't want to go down...but I can't contain my curiosity

knittingaddict · 08/12/2022 22:03

Furries are a kink. People dress up in furry animal costumes and have sex with each other. It's a whole subculture.

I know about from a long ago episode of original CSI and the Blocked and Reported podcast.

There's probably more to it than that but that's the extent of my knowledge or interest.

DameMaud · 08/12/2022 22:34

Hmmmm... Ok. Thanks knitting.
I was vaguely aware of furries but confused about the 14 year old girl/possible trolling thing.
In bed poorly and bored, so probably trying to engage with too many threads!😂
Think I can let this one go.

Abhannmor · 09/12/2022 09:24

Officer Crutchley...I keep thinking of that song in West Side Story

IcakethereforeIam · 09/12/2022 09:39

Officer Crutchley, we're down on our knees

Sounds more like the Met.

Just realised West Side Story, like everything, is transphobic:

My sister wears a mustache,
My brother wears a dress.
Goodness gracious, that's why I'm a mess!
