I’ve never heard of Babbu - has anyone else? Apparently it’s an ‘online nursery’ and it’s teaming up with Drag Queen Story Hour because diversity.

I'm a bit of an outlier on these boards because I have enjoyed a drag show or two in my time - I used to go to the Black Cap - but this is such bollocks on a stick. As has already been pointed out to these kind of twits a million times, drag is an adult entertainment.

There's nothing wrong with a beer, but you don't pour some into your baby's sippy cup. And if a company is telling you that it's a good thing for "diversity" that your baby gets used to a regular Sippy Cup Beer, then you don't nod along and reach for the bottle opener, you bin them off while wondering what the hell their agenda is.

Also not keen on the drag name, tbh.

EmpressaurusOfWitchesBackFromTheDead · 06/12/2022 07:07

I don’t like the name Aida H Dee either. ‘Diversity’ only ever seems to come up in the context of drag queens - it’s fine to have a dig at neurodiverse people apparently?

Hasn’t Aida been busy. Aida has a huge profile now.

Let’s not forget this individual is making money from this. They charge for their appearances at the libraries don’t they?

Aida has plans for Aida’s self and is using children to build that profile.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/12/2022 08:21

Was Aida the one in the sparkly pantsuit with an erection ?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 06/12/2022 08:34

Why does Aida need babies and little children as an audience? Just wondering.

KatMcBundleFace · 06/12/2022 08:44

I remember when "Aida" went ballistic on twitter and managed to get himself suspended for threatening and doxing a woman (and her husband!) for asking these very questions.

To be honest I suspect its his only income stream and he loves the attention.

I also wonder how many people go to these things that aren't already LGBTQ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ or allies already. I'm not sure there is any research to back up all the money that is being spent on Aida, particularly by local authorities.

Consufed · 06/12/2022 08:47

Just vile.

Well, exactly.

As we all have see so bloody often, again and again, so many companies throw safeguarding out of the window when it comes to these things. I don't trust that this company will have done the necessary due diligence to ensure that this is an appropriate person to do readings.

tryandtryagain · 06/12/2022 18:14

I wasn't aware that "drag Queen" was a gender identity ? Also how is dressing up for entertainment diverse?
You wouldn't say a children's clown at a party was promoting diversity it's just entertainment.
I've worked in childcare for years and this unsettles me greatly. I've seen drags shows myself and they are not shows that I would take a pre schooler too!

bellinisurge · 06/12/2022 18:17

Drag Queens never want to go and entertain seniors in old people's homes. I wonder why that is?

BedTaker · 06/12/2022 18:58

Aida H Dee is the one who had sexually explicit memes on the same FB page that he used to advertise himself as a children's entertainer.

On a thread about it on here, one poster pointed out that any other type of children's entertainer who had similar stuff on their profile would be 'crucified' and questioned why it was ok for a drag queen to do it.

Aida H Dee then went running to Prick News, who came up with this hilarious headline.

Excellent way of explaining it!

'He's not the Miss, Sire, he's a very naughty boy.'

ArabellaScott · 06/12/2022 19:16

BTW, that was not aimed at any particular person. Any misgendering was purely unintentional and in the spirit of Pun.

ArabellaScott · 06/12/2022 19:19

Clearly, drag queens aren't equivalent to transwomen. They are just men wearing lots of make up, elaborate costumes and fake breasts - a parodic exaggeration of the trappings of femininity or: men taking the piss out of women.

How do men in fake breasts help promote diversity?

Consufed · 06/12/2022 19:31

Men dressing up as women. A distasteful parody either way. Dressing up as another oppressed group would not be acceptable 'entertainment', would it?

The difference though is that drag queens know that they aren't really women. TWs must surely know at least subconsciously too.

Consufed · 06/12/2022 19:33

Also why aren't there 'Drag King story hours'? (Not that I think either is acceptable)

Lucyam1 · 24/01/2023 11:55

Has anyone seen any content on My Babbu with Aida H Dee as yet? I signed up to it but haven't seen anything from Drag Queen Story Hour on it as yet

ScrollingLeaves · 24/01/2023 17:16

This discussion with Helen Joyce on Triggernometry about 45 min in discusses DQSH
