Cambridge academic who sparked student protests appointed to Government’s equality board

(I wonder if the Tories really care or are doing this to put two fingers up to those who they think are just too "woke"!)

A Cambridge don who sparked protests by inviting a “gender critical” feminist author to speak to students has been appointed to the board of the Government’s Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Professor Arif Ahmed, a philosophy lecturer at Gonville and Caius College, will be among experts charged with enforcing equalities legislation.

He rose to prominence for his opposition to Cambridge students who attempted to shut down a talk he organised with Helen Joyce, a gender critical feminist.

(As it happens the article is by Helen Joyce or is it possible that the article writer is also called Helen Joyce. Originally published in the Telegraph but reproduced by yahoo news, which is interesting in itself as they more usually stick to the Guardian mode of reporting on gender critical issues.)

Cant find the blush emoji, but despite catching up on sleep I still seem to be suffering brain fog. Sigh.

Prof Ahmed appointed to this organisation equalityhumanrights.com/en which doesn't seem to have a section saying who else has.

Not of course this Parliament Committee committees.parliament.uk/committee/328/women-and-equalities-committee/

New EHRC commissioners appointed www.gov.uk/government/news/new-ehrc-commissioners-appointed

Interesting that some of those being appointed are people who welcomed the Government's Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities Report last year.

Although at the time the then EHRC accused the Commission of not using proper data.
