He is still an MP! Despite calls to have Whip withdrawn surely he should while this is investigated? Matt Hancock was for going on IACGMOOH FFS

So the police are investigating, but not formally?

It’s an abhorrent crime but he’s not even been charged, I’m conflicted, mainly I think due process should be followed. He should be quietly told to stay away until he’s charged. If charged take away the whip then as there is a credible case and encourage him to stay away from the commons as a minimum. Up to him then if he steps down, if he’s guilty he’d be imprisoned and lose his seat anyway. The fear is publicly outing someone who may not be guilty and whose life could be destroyed.

We still have the principle of innocent until proven guilty. But things need to come to court quicker.

Lurkerlot · 03/12/2022 01:35

Apparently there are 3 accused MPs.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/12/2022 01:39

If they withdraw the whip then they risk identifying the individual before they have been formally charged with anything.

Interesting that Connor Burns who was rapidly sacked as a minister by Liz Truss after allegations emerged at Tory conference has been restored Whip with no case to answer. But there will still be purple saying no smoke without fire.

Now understand they are considering withdrawing Whip for sexual assaults when police are investigating. Great segment on radio 4 women's hour about this.
