Chanel 4 report on women “returning to sex work”

Weird report about the numbers of women ,especially mothers going into “sex Work” to fund themselves and their families. It was fronted by the ECP who were right to expose this, but the issue as far as they were concerned was the financial pressures, which of course we know about. More worrying was the dismissal of the suggestion by Cathy Newman that there were actual dangers to women from men. Also the organisation in Leeds (!) providing help for “cis and trans “ people doing “sex work”. No suggestion that if the demand stopped women would be in less danger, only that they could not earn the money they need. No questioning about that it was not that great as women had left and were now returning.

I saw this, a really disappointing item which presented a very one sided view (that sex work should be decriminalised) without challenge. Nadia Whittome (Labour MP) insisted the evidence supports decriminalisation, but this is a highly contested position with plenty of evidence that supports the Nordic model instead. Cathy Newman asked about the wider risks of the sex trade but these were waved away by the guests and Cathy didn't press them.

Sex work - is this advertised at the Job Centre?
