Awful. Poor girl.

What I find interesting is the shift in reporting. The article consistently uses the name Orton rather than referring to him as “she”. In fact it quotes a source referring to Orton as “he”. And is also going to a male prison - good.

How on earth was this male not charged with rape. Please tell me its not because the UK definition has it listed as a male crime?

Or did the justice system just want to avoid giving us another rape as an example of why this ideology is so dangerous.

I’ve heard it said on another thread that the child involved consented at the time. Rape is non consensual penetration. It used to be that under 16s couldn’t consent to sex due to their age but there have been rule changes for 13-15 year olds.

Fair Play For Women are working on this, and Sex Matters I think. If readers write in it also shows a level of distrust of the media coverage and the regulators should be aware. Not every newspaper is signed up to IPSO though. Pretty sure the Guardian isn't.

Another connected issue is the Equal Treatment Bench Book - this has been covered in this board before - if the court is forced to use preferred pronouns then Court Reporters will also. The two are connected and the influence for the ETBB is clear. A quick search will reveal all.

Surely it's not supposed to apply to adults. You cant say she was groomed then say the sex was consensual. Which is it?

I think if the poor girl hadn't got pregnant the media would have reported that "woman grooms girl". However, even with the best will in the world they wouldn't be able to get away with "woman gets girl pregnant". So they had to accept reality in a small way.

It's my view that no mand can ever be any kind of women, so the word "transwomen" is inaccurate and unnecessary. They are all men.

Nyan, is there a difference between transwomen and men posing as transformed? How can we tell which is which?

It’s relevant that he identified as a transwoman - if not he wouldn’t have been as easily able to access young girls. It should be said as much as possible that a transwoman did this to highlight how/why this identity helps men transcend boundaries.

Poor girl. I hope she is able to access some support. Doesn’t bear thinking about.

I love too that the article has specially said he could access the girl because of his ‘gender identity.’ They’re making it clear that the trans facade is not a coincidence. He isn’t a predator who happened to be trans, or a ‘woman’ who turned out to be a predator. He is a male predator (of course, the overwhelming majority are male) who found a good way in.

Agree , I would guess that . And I would replace the term "transphobic" with
" spotted a wrong un " a mile off .
