I'm sorry to say this, but I don't know if I trust the police when they say a full investigation has been carried out. After everything we've seen the past few years, my faith in their impartiality has been completely destroyed.

This is true, but I also don't consider teenage girls to be always reliable. People don't like to say it, but there are girls this age in particular who will make accusations that are untrue or only partially true. My own sister did this at one point, and looks back on it now with horror - it started to get out of her control and she shut it down, but that isn't always an easy thing to do either. The group of girls would tend to believe the story if it chimed with their own negative experiences with these boys.

There really isn't any other way forward than to look at the evidence. Which isn't always there even if it did happen.

Good points. It is one reason the camera phone has been such a game changer as getting evidence eg of a asylum seeker being told by a 15 year old it is against the law for them to be intimate can be recorded so we know it happened (subject to people faking video I suppose)

This discusses these matters and the author can hardly be called "racist"...

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an inspiration. Absolutely unafraid to speak honestly when most people haven't got the nerve.

As well as fear of being called racist, there's also a class issue stopping authorities from tackling the problem.

Because these men tend to be clustered in poorer areas, their victims are mainly working-class women and girls. As was pretty much admitted (finally) in Rotherham etc, those girls just weren't considered important. I know it's been said that they weren't believed when they reported their ordeals, but I strongly suspect the callousness and cowardice goes deeper. I suspect they were ignored whether they were believed or not.

And because they were thought to be no better than they ought to be. There were comments to this effect on the Begum thread, when people were saying they were quite happy to go with the men because of what they got in return.
