A gender imbalance emerges among trans teens seeking treatment - A Reuters Special Report

I'm just posting this as I am not sure that those on FWR will think this is saying anything new, but in recognition that a major news agency has researched and published this.

... The outsized proportion of adolescents seeking treatment to transition from female to male has sparked parallel concerns. Professionals in the gender-care community agree that treatment of all transgender children should be supportive and affirming. The question, for some, is whether peer groups and online media may be influencing some of these patients to pursue medical transition, with potentially irreversible side effects, at a time in their lives when their identities are often in flux. ...

Also has some statistics which might be of interest to those who commented on the thread about the radio serial The Coming Storm.

This line was particularly poignant... "Then, at age 11, Kulovitz started venturing onto social media. There, he came across a cosplayer on Tumblr who said he realized he was a transgender boy from the euphoria he felt while dressed as the hero of an online comic. Kulovitz was transfixed."

I wonder how many female comic book heroes they encountered? And how may of those were not over-sexualised.

This is actually quite significant. The Reuter Foundation (the employer of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe) was one of the sponsors of the infamous Dentons report on how to get legal progress for trans demands by doing everything sotto voce.

A “Special Report” on something we have been discussing here for several years? Give me a break, Reuters. And you’re supposed to be one of the leading journalism organisations in the world?

Golden bridge, remember... I'll be willing to forgive just how bloody late they are to this whole story if it means they're going to do some actual journalism now.

As I said in my op I appreciate that many on FWR would think thisis old news, but it is a breakthrough that Reuters, which is a major source of stories for MSM have at last recognised it is a story.

We will wait for the day that the Guardian carries anything like this.

Worth noting that Reuters is asking for anyone who has been through or confronted by gender affirming treatment to tell them about it. And also they have a special tip line. Now wonder what we could make them take a look at?! Links at end of article.
