I can't quite work out what is going on here, is it saying she's taken £50k of crowdfunder money or she stole it from the accounting firm she worked for?

I recall MM saying she was leaving the area as the threats and intimidation were too much. Something horrible had happened at her home I think.

If she has successfully moved away then I'm pleased for her but also the people that drove her away are disgusting.

Trans rights are forever aligned with the most egregious bullying and intimidation by some very nasty people.

tiddlywinks2 · 22/11/2022 10:24

MM was put through hell! If she's used money I donated to get obscenely pissed I'm glad, if she's used it to move due to harassment I'm glad.

I will donate to her again, to fight this latest smear too.

If you've got too much money you need rid of I'd gladly accept some of it. Energy and wine bills are expensive 😄

What you are missing margarita is that there are many women on this board that would contribute for you if you were unfairly and unlawfully attacked

thats the difference between the two of us and many of the regular posters on here

Oh Marg does it annoy you that women have their own money and bank accounts? And that they get to decide how that money is used? They even have the vote now and can go on trains without their uterus flying about all over their body.

Oh good, you’re back. So have you got any evidence of “homophobic slurs” or were you committing libel earlier?

tiddlywinks2 · 22/11/2022 17:16

@MargaritaPie

I don't have too much money, ridiculous comment. I sent what I could afford. And I did it because she needed the support. Like I said, I'd do it again. She doesn't deserve what she's been put through.

ScreamingMeMe · 22/11/2022 17:34

MargaritaPie · 21/11/2022 21:44

"they arrested her for complaining on social media about the officer who showed up to intimidate her"

MM is alleged to have named the officer (who wasn't meant to be named), posted false information about her and used a homophobic slur against her (the officer is a lesbian).

Funny, all the evidence I have seen from TRAs is MM naming the police officer, which I'm pretty sure she's allowed to do. No evidence of your other claims, which incidentally I am reading for the first time.

sessell · 22/11/2022 17:56

I haven't read most of the thread, but as someone who donated to MM, finally directly by PayPal I think after all the TRAs had harassed other platforms to refund the money I have a few observations:. 1) it was clear that Marion was traumatised by the abuse and harassment - punishment by process - and I'd imagine has had to take time out for stress, while still paying bills. 2) the final payment method had no stipulation and using funds to survive would be absolutely legitimate in my view, although I imagine it's not as much as ppl think, due to the canceling by mainstream platforms and cost of legal services. 3) I seem to remember that while Marion's case was dropped there was some type of suspension for 2 years or so which at the time struck me as a type of muzzling. Altogether this latest news strikes me as further harassment. It's how they operate. Keep going after people from every angle. I hope Marion is ok.

Waitwhat23 · 22/11/2022 18:05

I donated to Marion's cause. If after all the legal fees were paid (which I'm betting were extensive), she decided to turn the rest in pennies so she could swim around Scrooge McDuck style, I wouldn't give a shit.

I always find it bizarre to find TRA's telling women what they can and can't spend their own money on. I earned it and I'll spend it how I like.

I don't know much about the fraud allegation but as pp's have said, it still doesn't mean that human beings can change sex or that ribbons are something to be feart of.

Has ol' Ribbony Fearty scarpered to England yet as he 'threatened'?

TheTinPotCyborg · 22/11/2022 20:46

I donated to Marion's cause. If there was any 'change' left over, she can do whatever she likes with it and that was my intention when I donated.

Separately, even if someone had been found guilty of a £1 million pound fraud (and I've no idea what has happened here although it is sufficiently vague to feel like a smear campaign against Marion), I'd donate to any campaign to ensure they served any sentence in a single sex jail. I'd donate to a campaign to make sure a female murderer could say avoid sharing space with a male bodied person in prison. Because, it doesn't matter what crime a woman may have been imprisoned for, they should still not be imprisoned in mixed sex facilities.

JanieAllen · 23/11/2022 19:53

I don't give my money to Pies I give it to women who deserve a helping hand.

Last time I looked we live in a (alleged) democracy. We can name police officers. Theres no law against naming a public official. If you never want to be named, you dont work for a public employer.

As for the slur, you got proof?

What actually happened was that MM repeated information available, published, on the officers own SM and that of her employer. There's a thread or 3 on it, Marg was involved and so knows precisely what really happened. But is still twisting the truth all this time later...

Tallisker · 24/11/2022 13:05

Samphire! I haven't seen you for ages! I was going to post asking if anyone knew if you'd left MN. I ate some samphire with a fish pie and thought of you ☺️

Helleofabore · 24/11/2022 14:10

And I was singing 'hips don't lie' this morning looking for hip diagrams for another thread thinking about Samphire.

Absolutely this.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 24/11/2022 17:22

Ooh! Lost my phone. PC died. Got a new phone and decided to take a break from social media.

Then someone asked me about Twitter!

OMG!! It's a bigger blackhole than this place! And soooooooooooooooo very rabid!

But I don't like how it is making me think. So I am coming off and coming back here. A slower, more considered pace of exchange.

That and I want to see if the ludicrous T+Cs have changed over here on the Naughty Step 😀

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 24/11/2022 17:32

Let's see how that looks 😏

Sorry, I'll leave the thread alone now!

IwantToRetire · 27/10/2023 01:04

I'm assumng this is the same case so adding here rather than starting a new thread.

Police have arrested a gender-critical feminist in connection with alleged fraud offences.
Marion Millar, 49, became a high-profile figure in Scotland as a leading critic of transgender law reform.
The accountant from Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, has been released on an undertaking that she will appear at court at a later date.
Police also arrested and charged Noel McIntyre, 40, in connection with the case.

Interesting. As others have said upthread, I'll be keeping an open mind about this. I've seen too many instances now where the police have taken ridiculous claims at face value and let themselves be used by activists targeting. I expect the details of whatever this will come out in due course.

I’m assuming you’re white British middle class AreWeTheBaddies as that’s a very naive question.

Slight derailment but just for the record, white British middle class are also losing faith in the police, not just women but men too.

They are now seen by many of my peers as an organisation that supports corrupt abusive men, and with lesbiannana, mentally unstable women too.

I suspect this will prove to be a smear campaign but that won’t be publicised half as well and any retraction will be printed in small font. I’m

It says the man involved has been arrested and charged but Marion has just been arrested? Is that just a mistake in the article or has Marion been arrested in the same way sturgeon was and not charged yet of at all?

Rainbowshit · 27/10/2023 14:49

Other articles are saying she has been charged too.
