Green Party co leader is an embarrassment

Carla's lecture on non binary and demiwomen is literal parody.

And literal career suicide.

The Green Party is supposed to understand evolution, biology and all things living.

Embarrassed to say, my party.

Not leaving though. I will vote to get this shite out of the party. What fucking time wasters.

It's really bad. Women's groups are for women. It's right there in the name. And we've got plenty of real life issues to deal with - pay gap, rape conviction rates, abortion rights - before we even start on helping people who think women are a set of stereotypes to opt in and out of.
And that's not even women's fucking job to do.
Carla is pretty much just telling women to act like the world's most stereotypical mum, putting everyone else's wants first before we meet our most basic needs.
"Feminism" that tells women that we must look after everyone else isn't feminism at all. It's the complete opposite.

I'd read her wanging on and raised my eyebrows at the dementedness of GP activists.

The fecking DEPUTY LEADER? Jesus.

GP members, do any of these genderwang people ever, under any circumstances, mention the environment?

lovelyweathertoday · 16/11/2022 08:29

She's leader, not deputy leader. The greens have 2 leaders, both co-leaders.

hamstersarse · 16/11/2022 08:32

Makes you wonder about their take on the ‘climate emergency’

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 08:35

I'm sorry, Warrior. I had to leave after the Drag Queen motion. I just couldn't support it any more. Well done to all those who stay and fight.

TheaBrandt · 16/11/2022 08:36

God the planet is properly stuffed if that’s the calibre of the Green leadership 🙄

ArabellaScott · 16/11/2022 08:41

'e.g. a demiwoman may identify as non-binary with aspects of femininity:'

Fuck. This. Shit.

Beowulfa · 16/11/2022 09:12

If I worked in PR for Shell I'd release a statement saying our fossil fuels identify as renewable. How would the Greens argue against it if they can't be arsed with science and language anymore?

Fuck. This. Shit.

Quite.

“She may do…or she may not…or she MAY just tell you to fuck off with your nonsensical gender bollocks and do something useful for the world given that you’re potentially in a position of influence.”

Ofcourseshecan · 16/11/2022 10:59

I felt sick with embarrassment reading CD’s tweets. And then enraged. I’ve been an environmentalist and a feminist for 50 years. I used to argue with green male comrades about the importance of women’s rights, and with other male comrades on the left about the urgency of both causes.

It breaks my heart that the Green Party is now big enough to have real influence in Scotland, and could have the same potential in the rest of the UK, but is now a ludicrous parody.

NeverOneBiscuit · 16/11/2022 18:24

Apocolipsticknow : on reflection you are of course right! You don’t have to make and bring your own Morris Minor. I of course should surrender mine to you, and affirm that you’re a much better owner than I ever was, or could ever be. 😁

WickedSerious · 16/11/2022 18:33

DontAskIDontKnow · 15/11/2022 22:13

This is because the new Green Party Women constitution doesn’t includes non-binaries. For simplicity they’ve just gone with women. It kind of makes sense, That’s the name of the group. Surely, the non-binaries could make their own group and call it Green Party Non-Binaries.

Or 'The Look At Me!Look At Me! Green Party'

If I was wearing a tin hat I might think a party that wants the world population to fall might have more nefarious reasons for supporting this latest cause.

The replies and quote Tweets are quite enjoyable though.

Yes, quite the ratio. And preserved for posterity now: archive.ph/JpYQd

A leader of a political party quoted Cosmo as a source?

FFS

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 22/11/2022 05:44

I think the Green Party has been purposely infiltrated by these types so that they look ridiculous - the oil companies probably pay them.

If it wasn’t so serious it would be funny.

The Morris Minor owners club. What’s that? You’d like to join but you don’t have a Morris Minor? There’s a club on Tuesdays for The non-Morris Minor owners, how about that? No? Ok, just make a life size one out of cardboard, bring it along next week and we’ll pretend it’s real.

Love this 😂

Sausagenbacon · 22/11/2022 07:32

I believe she's standing against Thangham Debonnaire in Bristol West at the next election. Which would be excellent news for Thangham, except that Bristol West is Woke Central.

The UN article about intersectional feminism that she links to does not support her argument at all, although it includes a couple of quotes from LGBTQ+ activists which I guess she thinks makes it do so.

The main thrust of the article as I read it is that different communities should act in solidarity with each other as diverse groups, ie not be forced to join together…

“Looking through an intersectional feminist lens, we see how different communities are battling various, interconnected issues, all at once. Standing in solidarity with one another, questioning power structures, and speaking out against the root causes of inequalities are critical actions for building a future that leaves no one behind.”

And later on “…black women were part of the feminist movement, the black movement, and other progressive movements. “We don’t want others to speak for black feminists—neither white feminists nor black men”

With this argument extended then this article argues that (male) non-binaries should not want women to speak for them and vice versa. But instead to stand in solidarity, which I am all for.

More worrying is that the Cosmopolitan article contains an argument which defines “non-binary” to give men even more access to women’s groups…

“Most demigirls are AFAB (assigned female at birth), and while their gender identity may lean more toward female, they can also identify as masculine and non-binary. As for demigirls assigned male at birth (AMAB), they may feel a strong connection to being a woman, but not enough to warrant identifying as such or being transgender.”

It’s such a load of utter BS that it would be funny if it wasn’t so serious. I can’t find words to express my disbelief that people in high positions in politics can be such idiots. No robustness of argument. Scant proof of ability to read, comprehend and apply written arguments. Linking to a Cosmopolitan article to help define new identities?! WTAF!?! Where is the critical thinking? And yet the confidence / stupidity to go public with her arguments. And this is politics today. Yikes! We need to keep pushing back.
