This is a very entertaining presentation (about a deeply depressing topic) from the LGB Alliance conference.

Shay Woulahan and Hannah Berrelli explore how micro identities created by angsty teenagers online found their way into mainstream culture and politics and began being adopted by the "oppressor" class - middle aged, middle class, heterosexual, white men.

I watched this and had a similar question to the audience member re blaming teenagers for all this crap. I don't think their answer was adequate - I'm sure teen girls didn't just come up with this all by themselves.

How did the idea of all these gender identities spread from Queer theory/Gender studies courses at universities to teen girls on Tumbler? That's what I want to know.

I mean ffs Alex Drummond (! ! ! sorry he seems to bring on tourettes in me) said he 'never thought about being a woman" until his gender studies course. W! I love the Magdelene Berns video where she talks about him. in case you haven't seen it. So how did it spread to teen girls?
