'The purpose of the inquiry is to learn about any challenges faced by female participants in sport and physical activity, and to explore how those challenges might be overcome. The inquiry will consider challenges to female participation in sport at both community and elite level, and whether female participants from marginalised groups face additional barriers to participation. The Committee is also interested in the ways in which female participation in sport is supported, reported, and promoted.

The Committee would specifically like to know:

What issues, if any, affect women and girls taking part in community sport and physical activity? How might these challenges be overcome?

What issues, if any, affect women and girls taking part in elite sport? How might these challenges be overcome?

What additional issues, if any, affect women and girls from marginalised groups taking part in sport or physical activity? How might these challenges be overcome?'

Guessing the women of FWR may have a few good ideas ...

Arabella, will responses from women in England be accepted?

Hoardasurass · 19/11/2022 08:54

Yet another consultation from scot government that define women as anyone who identifies as one.

KittensNotMittens · 19/11/2022 08:55

But their defection of women is ‘anyone who’ so it’s a load of nonsense really.

JanieAllen · 19/11/2022 12:01

its an appallingly badly routed consultation. Even though I said I was answering as an individual it asked me questions as if I was an insititution. More examples of how shit our government is that it can't get something as basic as that right.

Done

NitroNine · 20/11/2022 14:54

They’re having a bubble aren’t they? Or are they just hoping/mysteriously going to find it’s vital The Most Marginalised Of All be given immediate access to girls’ & women’s sports [facilities] of all kinds & all levels? 🤨

Hi, Ofcourseshecan, sorry, I missed all subsequent posts, somehow!

I can't see anything to say one way or the other.

'We welcome written views in English, Gaelic, Scots or any other language.'

I would imagine that if you are in any way involved in sport that might include national events, you may be affected. If you have anything you'd like to contribute then I would suggest making a response - I guess they may choose to disregard it, but to be frank this is what they do whenever they don't like a response, so you'll probably have as much chance as any Scottish woman of being heard ...

It's Scotgov so this reference to "women and girls from marginalised groups" will include trans women and girls. The whole thing will end up being about how to enable male people to participate in the female category.

I’m in Scotland. My DDs do a lot of sport out of school but hate doing it in school as the classes are boy/girl combined. I don’t get this, have them doing the same sports absolutely, but why together?

DD1 stopped doing school PE as soon as she was allowed. She particularly disliked dodgeball, having balls chucked at her by boys in the year above. DD2 had to be really pushed to take part in an extra “fun” session of a certain sport that was being held for everyone in her year (even though it’s a sport she likes and has had some extra curriculum training in it) because she said the boys would be telling her how shit she was. We made her go, she scored a few times for her team and the boys told her she was shit. Brilliant.
