Can people of colour use the KKK?

Can chickens use KFC?

The answer might be a yes but a better question might be would it be in their best interest to do so.

I would imagine that the sorts of services that the KKK operate would be things like "we offer to harrass your black neighbour, and will try our best to harrass her so much that she ends up moving. We will then let good honest white people know the house is up for sale to maximise your chances of getting a white neighbour next time."

So, might a black woman use the KKK? Presumably a black woman whose hatred of her black neighbour is sufficient would be happy to deal with racists she hates, if it means getting rid of the neighbour that she hates more.

So, the question is, what services a trans person might wish to use that LGBA offer. Well, if they are a gay man who identifies as a trans woman then presumably the LGBA can give the same support they might give any gay man. Or they might wish to advise the gay man that other gay men like cock, which makes surgery very very risky... if your "target market" is men who like cock then you should probably think long and hard (no pun intended) before having yours removed.

If they are a straight man who identifies as a trans woman and lesbian, the LGBA can give advice on not rapily and coercively harrassing lesbians, and that men who want sex with women are by definition straight and not part of the LGB community.

nauticant · 08/11/2022 12:16

The question was about "a lesbian with a penis" wanting to use the service which was answered that LGBA would be interested in their world view rather than the nature of the person, but of course in this case "a lesbian with a penis" is by definition going to have an incompatible world view.

I am currently registering a new charity. You need to say who your services are for. I can’t see why a charity’s services have to be for everyone. I’m heterosexual so why would I get support from an LGB charity? I’m not disabled so why would I expect support from a charity for disabled people even if I ‘identified’ as disabled?

ickky · 08/11/2022 12:54

Thank you @nauticant for all the threads and competent commentary.

FriendofJoanne · 08/11/2022 12:56

Oh my god I just realised the Dog's Trust are totally transphobic! so are the RSPCA, Cat's Protection. NONE of them centre trans people.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 08/11/2022 12:56

Thanks to nauticant for the excellent thread management and to everyone for the splendid commentary and excellent asides.

FriendofJoanne · 08/11/2022 12:58

Thank you, wims, much appreciated.

Tallisker · 08/11/2022 13:03

What does judgement reserved mean?

AlisonDonut · 08/11/2022 13:03

Thanks all

nauticant · 08/11/2022 13:04

Judgment reserved means the decision of the court will be given later on, and not on the day the hearing ends.

Thank you from my sick bed for all the commentary. Did anyone at any stage point out MM history of pushing surgery/ hormones on its core group?…I guess not as they brought the case, but surely if LGBA doesn’t do that they are operating within charitable limits?

MargaritaPie · 08/11/2022 13:15

"LGBA do have trans identified persons in their user base."

A userbase which is 93% hetero and non-trans.

MargaritaPie's numbers are not correct. From the LGBA website (bit in bold - my bold - at the bottom):

Fact: Most LGB Alliance supporters are LGB

One particularly sticky myth is that only 7% of LGB Alliance supporters are lesbians. Here’s how that started:

We were delighted to be able to support Allison Bailey at her tribunal in the form of a witness statement to help prove that gender critical people are likely to be women and lesbians. As part of that we shared some numbers from our newsletter subscriber list.

We used Mailchimp to send our newsletter and when we set up our account in 2019 we added some subscriber questions which, as it turned out, provided us with ambiguous data.

We asked people whether they were lesbian, whether they were lesbian/gay or if they preferred not to say. The flaws being that we couldn’t tell whether those who ticked lesbian/gay were men or women and that none of the fields were compulsory – so many people skipped them altogether.

The result was that we had 4,502 newsletter subscribers and 316 ticked the box describing themselves as lesbian. That’s 7% of the total. A further 949 ticked the box lesbian/gay and 1,427 were unspecified or preferred not to say. Based on that data that means that between 316 (7%) and 2,376 (53%) of our subscribers were lesbian.

The 7% figure was used in court because it’s important that evidence is based on provable fact and it is a fact that, at a minimum, 7% of our subscribers were lesbians. However, common sense told us that that number was really much higher.

In August 2022 we commissioned a survey of our subscribers to help us plan to deliver services and support to LGB people. One of the questions we asked was about sexual orientation. That data showed that 34% are lesbian, 33% are gay men, 12% are bisexual, 20% are heterosexual and 1% preferred not to say. We are satisfied that this data is robust.

I support an Elephant charity.

I wonder how many other people on their user base don't own Elephants. Can't be just me.

CompleteGinasaur · 08/11/2022 13:34

I'm just wondering if there is any way of accurately quantifying the data about how many times Marge has come up with this incorrect stat and then completely ignored the real figures when presented with them.

MajorieEks · 08/11/2022 13:34

I identify as an elephant with all the cake I’m getting through these days - does that count?

zanahoria · 08/11/2022 13:36

At least LGB alliance supporters are likely to admit they are straight unlike all the straights among the alphabet people.

Pyjamagame · 08/11/2022 13:37

I am heterosexual and I support LGBA, because if sex doesn't exist then neither does, L, G, B or heterosexual.
