but the reality is that the Proud Boys view women much in the same way as white supremacists and elements of the online misogynist manosphere do: undeserving of the same status as men, worthy of ridicule for deviating from traditional gender norms, objectifiable in some instances to serve men, and worthy of protection in others -- as long as they fulfil deeply antiquated gender roles in the service of preserving “western” society.
TRA/SJW men constantly tell women they need to be quiet, be kind, be an ally, in situations where women doing this are completely acting against their own interest.
TRAs love to ridicule women about their appearance - that concern over TW is just jealousy, that they are more woman that "cis" women etc (you know, like the song that Jordan person sang on Friday Night Live).
Serving men? Well it's ok for left wing men to use women as vessels for their surrogate babies - poor women at that. Owen Jones was on the hunt for broody lesbians to service him. And left wing men always have used women as support humans for their causes - women strung along for decades in the US over abortion, Obama betraying women over abortion to push through the Affordable Care Act, the same with the Labour Party for years telling women to get in line for rights and just wait until after the next election. (see above, be kind, be an ally, shut up about your own concerns).
There are no more deeply antiquated gender roles than those cosplayed by people pretending to be the opposite sex. Such cosplay celebrated by left wing men and women told to STFU for objecting to it.
The service of preserving western society? There can be nothing more white, middle class, tone deaf, western centric than a movement that is based on the "human right" to dress up in glittery lady clothes, have unnecessary plastic surgery using scarce NHS resources, use makeup and drugs produced by companies with horrendous records of inhumanity to their fellow man (looking at you, L'Oreal, looking at you Purdue), appropriate and abuse concepts of self developed over millennia by now persecuted indigenous peoples (e.g. 2 spirit), invent a load of stupid pronouns guaranteed to catch out ordinary working class people who have more urgent things on their plate than how they address someone who identifies as a cat, not to mention people for who English is not their first language, effectively exclude girls and women from certain ethnic and religious backgrounds by putting males into women only spaces.
There's nothing in that description of the Proud Boys that can't be applied to men on the so called progressive left, the so called SJWs, BLM and a good portion of men occupying the mainstream of media and politics. The common factor being rampant misogyny, that is as much a preserve of men on the left as it is of men on the right.
