FiLia, updates and gardening

Hi everyone

I want to shout out to the two women I met at FiLia. I never got their names. We got chatting. They said that they had dug up a few carrots for me this time last year and asked how things were going. I said that the ET doesn't start until Oct 2023, but that the process was using tonnes of vegetables. But, I said I was clean out of ideas for how to dig up carrots and cabbages. They encouraged me to get back on to mumsnet and ask.

So, I will be posting an update shortly to my gardening website. The vegetable patch is depleting as we are in the process of disclosure.

If you have any energy for digging up a few carrots, I could use a bit of a hand.

I hate having to ask. Yesterday I received the OUs 'bundle'. It is several hundreds of pages. This is an extremely vegetable intensive process. But by 18th Nov we ought to have the final bundle agreed with OU.

Hope this makes sense.

And thank you again to those two wonderful women for making me feel that it is okay to just ask for help.

Best
Jo

Dear Jo

Thankyou for the reminder. Gardening at your allotment will happen once payday is here.

JoPhoenix · 02/11/2022 11:03

Thank you. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the support. Seriously. Couldn't be constructing this garden without everyone's help and I think the garden will be of benefit to everyone.

Would you be able to post a link (or PM me one) with the back story as it's not ringing any bells? I'm sure I've got a few spare vegetables (seeds?) that may help. Sorry if I have got the analogy wording a bit off!

JoPhoenix · 02/11/2022 11:23

Doing that now.

And, I probably ought to give a few links to some of the talks I've given:

I spoke about the need for single sex prisons (WPUK conference last year)

I spoke about the problems of Stonewall's TWAW mantra viz women (an earlier WPUK event in Leicester)

I was interviewed by Andrew Doyle

And, I have a substack blog here (about the OU) and here (about why sex matters in criminal justice) and here (about academic freedom and harassment of GC academics)

Then there is this link that provides my background story

Thank you, and done 👍

Hi Jo, hope you get a lot of keen gardeners popping by your allotment. You might have to ask MN to remove the link to your background story, though. They don’t like diect links to gardening stories, but you can post a link to a tweet with that link in it.

Manderleyagain · 02/11/2022 22:15

Thanks for the update!

Empowermenomore · 02/11/2022 22:15

Will dig a few carrots for you Jo. It’s such a long wait! Keep spirits up!

FigRollsAlly · 02/11/2022 22:52

Hi Jo, just looked at your page and am so outraged (but sadly not surprised) that the OU are putting forward 18 witnesses in what seems to be a cynical attempt to deplete your vegetables. These tribunals brought by GC women are so important as you are fighting for all of our rights but it must take a huge toll on you so thank you for your courage and determination.

Cookingutensil · 02/11/2022 23:45

Jo, When I first read about your work at the OU, it was another reason to proud of being an OU student; the icing on the cake for me. I'm so sorry it turned out like this - unbelievable. I will look at your links tomorrow and offer what support I can - we are all in your debt.

From an academic perspective, knowing what you've gone through, and other women, I self censored to a degree.

Cookingutensil · 02/11/2022 23:47

...posted too soon - self censored to get my qualification. Not good, but the fire is still there, you're not alone.
