The women survivors the Scottish Government wouldn't listen to

'“I definitely do have a need for single sex spaces. Trauma responses are really difficult to explain. I didn't ask for them. I have them. I have had to find ways to manage them so that I can function but they are never ever going to go away. And I understand that it's on me to manage my responses. I can't expect to be able to bend the world around me. But I already have rights in law in place that are there to protect me. And I should be able to access those places without people accusing me of being a bigot or accusing me of being used.”'

Moving accounts from several women who had asked to give evidence to the Scotgov on GR reform, and were refused.

Didn't even have the grace to listen to these brave women 🤬💔

“I would not have stopped them from talking to the 17 trans identified individuals that they spoke to - it’s important that their voices are heard. My voice should have been heard too. I keep hearing that everybody's identity should be respected. I didn't choose this identity. And I certainly didn't choose to be one of these women. But here I am. My identity is not being respected.”

Feminist to her fingertips my absolute fucking arse. Nicola Sturgeon should be absolutely ashamed of herself.

EpicChaos · 29/10/2022 00:07

So much as one single hair on a woman or child is harmed, going forward due to this law and Sturgeon should be held personally responsible and open to being sued, both personally and as leader of the SNP!
Politicians need to be held fully accountable, no two ways about it!

I wrote of my own traumatic childhood experience to my (English, Labour) MP , to explain why I opposed gender self-ID, as it allows every man access to every women’s space. It was painful and difficult to write.

He completely ignored it. Sent me a routine ‘be kind’ response, pretty much explaining how important men’s wishes are. Children’s safety didn't even get a mention.

He’s locally respected as a decent family man.

I ask myself why any man supports giving all men the right to follow girls into the women’s toilets.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 29/10/2022 00:44

I will never forgive them.

They are doing harm Nd they do not care.

That is an excellent report by Gina Davidson for LBC. Simply explains the facts, the issues, and the planned change to Scottish law, then lets the women speak for themselves.

Most coverage, in most media, is slanted towards gender ideology, and at best considers the effects on women to be collateral damage, implicitly acceptable.

The LBC report makes it very clear that self-ID isn’t just about trans people. And that the Scottish government is simply refusing to take evidence from women with relevant experience.

Thank you for link.

I'm so sorry, Ofcourseshecan, for what you suffered and for the indifference of your MP.

I honestly don't know what can be done for those who don't see women as fully human.

I've just realised the interviews were actually broadcast on LBC on the morning of the parliamentary debate. They start at around 52 minutes (you have to set up a free LBC account). Amazing, brave women. Shame on the committee who refused to meet with them.

None of us have any respect from the SNP, nor interest, nor care, nor concern. That's a fact of life. I cannot believe that we have a Parliament full of msps who believe that someone with a penis is a woman and therefore entitled to entry to women's spaces.

Wherediditallgo · 30/10/2022 19:58

This is just the start. An article in the Sunday Times today says that Scotland is likely to attract trans people to move here because of the “progressive” outlook.

It's horrifying. I'm not proud to be Scottish right now and couldn't have more contempt for Nicola S if I tried.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 30/10/2022 22:43

Women survivors have never been listened to. Not in 4000 years.

but, for Scotland, a small country of a network of villages, FFS, these are not strangers to these parliamentarians. They know these women. They just don’t care

i do.

Yet they keep being voted back in. They dominate Scottish Politics. God knows why.

Wherediditallgo · 31/10/2022 19:53

If you add up all the unionist votes they come to more than SNP.
Labour and the Conservatives are going to have to work something out at the next election if it’s ever to change.
