Keir Starmer and misgendering

Athenajm80 · 24/10/2022 21:47

I read something in Twitter that KS has said if he gets elected then he will make misgendering a crime. I was walking home so didn't read the whole article and typically can't find the tweet again.

I am confused about how that would work considering being GC is a protected belief in law. Has anyone heard more about this and can try to explain how it would work? Would he revoke GC being protected? Can he do that?

donquixotedelamancha
Yes, Remainers came out with some humdingers! Project Fear fell flat on its face.

nilsmousehammer · 26/10/2022 16:52

Other countries aren't the UK. This is not an island that tends to go meekly and quietly with this sort of bullshit. The Romans spent 400 years failing to conquer us before they gave up and petered out, the Normans never successfully held the UK as part of their French empire, the Nazis never managed to invade. The British don't put up with this kind of bullshit.

Hence us being known as t**f island. And being the one country that has managed to throw spokes in the wheels of the Grand Plan to make this a totalitarian police state without ethics, servicing male supremacism.

knittingaddict · 26/10/2022 16:58

We should be so proud of that nilsmousehammer.

MariEllie · 26/10/2022 17:03

anyone With intelligence ought to know what Starmer is and that he is a tool of the Left. If he is elected in will come the worst horrors of wokeness.

has he actually said they will do anything more specific than 'update/modernise the GRA'?
because if I was him in week 2 say of being PM I'd say
right- modernising the GRA- let's appoint a committee to gather all the evidence we already have - let's speak to some people directly involved (including say, detransitioners and various whistle blowers)- lets consult with interested parties (including say prison governors, VAWG charities, sporting bodies, voluntary sector and trans people)
I think by the time this happens there will be ample evidence in the public domain to suggest that gatekeeping needs to be stricter not more relaxed and that legal fictions are irrelevant when it comes to safeguarding vulnerable adults and children

Yes, kier said we cannot say women have a cervix.

If the man was any kind of decent, he would stand up to this crap already.
He bloody well knows fine well what men can do to women, he isnt dim. He just doesn't want to battle momentum/woke bros.
Well that is fine, just leave it to the women to sort out as usual.

But I personally wont vote for someone so utterly spineless.
How can a man that spineless run an entire country?

And finally, we should not need evidence of wrong doing. We matter. We are just as important as bloody kier.

But within a year of all this ramping up we had evidence galore.
Each bit of evidence is a woman impacted or harmed by this batshittery. I dont want more evidence. I want someone in power to stand up and say enough now. Women are deserving of single sex wherever its appropriate and they will have that. If a law needs making then we will make it, if men still think they can get around it, they will be jailed.

We cannot read kiers mind, nor should we have to try, he should say what he means and mean what he says.

Unseelie · Today 00:04
"This is why it’s all such a legal nonsense. Currently, the legal position is that if you walk down the street and pass a biological man who has just decided in his head to identify as female, and you refer to him as ‘sir’, he can complain to the police that you hurt his feelings and they will record it as a hate incident against transpeople (or, if the police officer is particularly gullible, as hate crime). A lot of this is going on. This means that the statistics show a massive rise in hate crime / hate incidents, which statistics the TRAs then use to argue that they need stronger protections and entitlements to ‘feel safe’ by invading women’s safe spaces such as rape centres and toilets. M
It’s not accidental."

Nice & coherent & to the point.
It is NOT accidental.
And "hate crime" as such - as a newly introduced, yet very poorly defined legal category - deserves much more scrutiny and philosophical analysis.
Sounds fucking boring, I know, but it is now imperative.

If any expression of anything - verbal/non-verbal -
may now be classified as an expression of "hate"
dependent only on the "perception of the victim" of said expression, then we are truly in deep fucking shit.
If you can generate "a victim" out of any conceivable
perception, you're ready to go - you've just got yourself
"a crime".
Once "you've been perceived harmful" to their
"safety/identity/valid existence" and the rest
they've just come up with, you are officially fucked.
Take, for instance, the "parabellum" MN handle.
Say, I use it in "the wrong context"
(I would bloody love to) and I'm - more or less - done.

(I'm looking for some bloody good pro bono
fucking lawyer, as we speak.
Decided, I am going to report myself pre-emptively
to the relevant authorities.
I am going to start with fucking misgendering
the lot - police, CPS and whoever fucking comes
my way).
It is NOT going to be boring, I tell you that.

See you in about 5-10 years...
(No violins, please - only some proper fags, booze
and lots of inappropriate feminist GC literature/
dildos for penitentiary internal distribution, maybe?)
No idea, we'll see what women - when pushed -
really want.

I geared the interview. Typically spineless from Sir Kneeler.

He did not say that, and it's not Labour policy.

lannistunut · 27/10/2022 12:46

He did not say that, and it's not Labour policy. Never let that get in the way of having a go at Labour though!

StillWeRise · 27/10/2022 18:37

well, maybe he's going to come on the MN webchat and explain it all to us

I bloody hope so- I am desperate to vote for a party who will defend the working class, women and the planet.

Surely he can't be proposing to throw away the best chance they've got at power for god knows how long...they lost so many traditional voters over Brexit/Corbyn, they will never get them back while they back this nonsense. My my mum is in her 80s and lives in a retirement housing complex. Voted labour all her life. Disliked Corbyn, but voted for local labour MP. Now her neighbour is saying to her 'Starmer doesn't know what a woman is'. This is NOT a niche issue any more and ordinary people will continue to stay away from Labour because of it.
I'm assuming someone from the LP reads this stuff...bloody wake up ! Just because we are all old enough to be your mum doesn't mean you can ignore us. Engage your critical brain and step outside the bubble. Is it because you are all humanities graduates?

Athenajm80 · 27/10/2022 21:33

@lannistunut @DadJoke I have corrected my OP further down the thread thank you. I wasn't having a go at Labour, I was wondering how something KS said would work. It was nothing to do with the political party, Labour, Tory, Lib Dem, I think they're all as bad as each other to be honest. I was questioning one person's statement which I have since acknowledged I was incorrect about.

That'll be Keira, bigot! 😉

Whatthefunkingfunk · 27/10/2022 21:40

Shit. Does that mean we have to learn the names for all the 100 genders, memorise them and learn how to recognise them? Or is he gonna just keep it to the usual 2 that get bandied about. What if people swap? What if you genuinely can’t tell? My sons school - single sex single uniform option, have said that any deliberate nasty misgendering will result in detention but it all depends on the response of the misgendered person. If they take offence - detention- if not your good to get home on time.

THIS is why Labour will not get in. Even in this absolute economic shit show, with the potential for a landslide victory they will fuck it up because if this shit.

If there is someone in politics who really can understand the law I'd say it is Keir Starmer so for all those on here saying his plans are unworkable I hope you are better qualified than him.

LOL he deliberately misquoted the existing Law in one of his recent pronouncements which made me lose even more respect for him....

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 27/10/2022 22:18

I wonder what this would mean for autistic people like me who really struggle with speaking untruths? I can just about cope with using they/them but I can't call a man her, my brain just won't allow it.
