That's it, really. I'm not a Tory but I was desperately hoping for someone sensible to be in charge for the next two years.

Liz Truss very disappointing on this issue (wasting Kemi's talents on a trade post) - glad she's gone.

Boris would have caused more chaos.

Penny... well, need I say more.

Finally feel I can breathe!

Glad someone else spotted this. Not just "one of the first" but THE first, if memory serves me correctly. Back in 2017, he was taking an interest in this when no other MP was speaking out. In fact, when Venice Allan had her meeting at Millwall FC cancelled after threats by TRAs, he stepped up and allowed her to hold her meeting in the House of Commons.

That was brilliant, wasn't it? Not only did the meeting go ahead, but it went ahead inside the 'mother of all parliaments', under the protection of the parliamentarian David TC Davies.

Davies said he didn't like seeing women being prevented from speaking freely, and he wanted to hear what they had to say.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2022 09:13

Cohen is not happy about David TC Davies being in the cabinet either.

The screenshot from stilltish on twitter is a recent discussion in parliament on men's mental health. If you google her name & gender identity you find it. They included trans men in the discussion, but that was the way the questions & remit of the discussion was set up. There definitely wasn't anything alarming from keegan. She just reports what's going on the GI services.

Whichever tory politicians were actually behind commissioning the cass review have done a really good thing. So many sensible developments spring from that point.

We do have to balance the books though , we cannot keep on as we are
If anyone else got in where would the money come from ? Its always the taxpayers
He did sort furlough etc
I for one am giving him the benefit of the doubt for now and whoever is in , whatever the party the global situation we are in and recovery from covid is going to be a tough few years

healthadvice123 · 26/10/2022 11:45

@Alltheprettyseahorses well said
Anyone thinks there is a magic wand and another party would be able to fix all is on another planet
If I was Kier Starmer I would be quite happy waiting a couple years then taking over when books are balanced a little more and there is maybe more to give back
Also a snap GE would not be good for us as a country we have a low pound as it is
A planned GE even a earlier one would be much better
He handled furlough well but tough choices ahead for all of us no doubt

WandaWomblesaurus · 26/10/2022 12:44

Yes curious as to how Labour would be any better and I'm saying this as a paid up Labour voter. What do we think Labour would magically do to fix the economy?

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2022 12:51

Balance the books? The Tories have pretty near bankrupted the UK. They are having to scramble quickly to avoid it. Life in the UK is going to get harder over the next two years, after which the Conservative party will be gone. Probably forever.

They destroyed our economy and they destroyed our rights.

MangyInseam · 26/10/2022 13:23

So you are thinking the CP will spend more and Labour would go for an austerity approach?

That seems to be the opposite of what most people are warning of, they seem to think Sunak is going to try and balance the books and Labour would somehow soften the blow.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2022 13:27

There is nothing for anyone to spend. It's really bad and everyone is going to feel it in the next 2 years.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/10/2022 13:42

after which the Conservative party will be gone. Probably forever.

This is deluded. The conservatives have probably been in power too long, but I see no reason they're just going to disappear off the map forever. They've been a main party in this country for centuries. Like it or not, many people won't ever vote Labour.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/10/2022 14:40

There are plenty of parties to vote for. It's not a case of Conservative and Labour. Far right parties will increase their share of the vote in the next GE.

But probably not share of seats thanks to FPTP.
