Or local Conservative office and make your feelings about Penny Mordaunt known. She is a wrecking ball for women's rights.

They won't care right now. Women's rights (& LGB rights too, tbf) will be absolutely at the bottom of the pile of things Tory MPs are thinking about.

My local constituency office (Labour seat) appeared surprised when I was raising it in the last round, ooh, 6 weeks ago.

Feckedupbundle · 20/10/2022 17:35

No point me doing it I'm afraid. My MP is full on TWAW and has scolded me in the past for writing with my concerns about her meeting with mermaids. She fully backed Mordaunt from the word go.😡

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/10/2022 18:11

Maybe you can convince them that she's too controversial?

Think mine is backing Boris though he is pretty spineless and never says what he thinks on gender.

I know Truss made a mess of things but I'll always be grateful for her holding the line on sex and gender before it was still extremely hard to do so (when Mermaids was not imploding so obviously) - without her we'd have had self-id and we would really be slogging uphill now. (This hill of self-id will happen if Labour gets in as Starmer confirmed a few days ago).

Boris won't do that to us I think - he has said biological sex is important. Rishi has been pretty silent on the subject.

I'm anyone but Penny again. I also think the faces she was making when Truss was at the dispatch box should rule her out not just on the grounds of disloyalty and shameless hanging onto a job when you don't believe in the boss, but because no-one who is involved in high level talks with other countries can possibly be so indiscrete with her feelings and facial expressions - she'd cause chaos. You can't talk to other countries' presidents with that slapped haddock expression.

Penny Mordaunt is not my biggest concern right now tbh. My local MP is supporting Boris.

I honestly don't care if he knows what a woman is, because experience has demonstrated that he is a lying, law-breaking narcissist without an ounce of integrity or principle, who doesn't give a shit about women or anyone else.

Dancingbea · 21/10/2022 20:22

What is the point though of knowing what a woman is when you don’t know how to defend them when it matters? I would strongly recommend looking at the abortion votes of this year (the ultimate manifestation of where women’s biological reality matters and determines their life course). Have a look at how Suella Braverman and Kemi Badenoch have voted on this, and compare with Penny Mordaunt before you accuse her of being a “wrecking ball”. I agree neither with her politics nor her position on gender recognition - but I find the lack of scrutiny of others simply because they get the woman answer right really depressing.

TooBigForMyBoots · 21/10/2022 20:35

I get what you're saying @Dancingbea and I know we're fucked under the Tories. But we are going to be more fucked if PM wins.
