I've just seen this.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11331573/Ex-barrister-wins-right-sue-kicked-degree-gender-critical-views.html

Am I correct in thinking he was asked to leave Childline too because of his GC beliefs, or have I misremembered that?

really good news. Yes, I think we was asked to leave Childline too, I read that somewhere

TheClogLady · 19/10/2022 16:34

Yes

i posted the recap of Esses’ case on a thread yesterday… will come back with a link.

Comments to that article are supportive.

Yesterday’s thread re: ACAUK statement:
www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4657840-association-of-clinical-psychologists-statement-on-cass-review

recap of James’ story: tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/james-esses-vs-metanoia-institute

I’m so impressed with James. He’s refused to back down and has given some great quotes to the press re: Mermaids fails in recent weeks.

if only all gender distressed kids and teens had access to therapists and counsellors with James’ integrity. I remember when his story first broke he was subjected to appalling abuse and professional character assignation online (and without the benefit of a ready made tervern sisterhood to water down the abuse with positive comments).

I expect some of that tenacity and fearlessness is due to the background as a criminal law barrister.
Allison Bailey (another criminal law barrister) also has laser eyes when it comes to the safeguarding holes in trans policies!

Superb news.

Thanks ClogLady - I only read the OP of that thread yesterday so missed that you'd mentioned James's case

Excellent. Looking forward to the tribunal (provided that the UKCP and the Metanoia Institute don't have the good sense to avoid showing themselves up in court and settle now instead).

As a very long term donator to Childline I will have to rethink….
