She is. And they persist with the 'trans rights' line when JK is actually talking about women's rights.

I'd love to know the real reason behind Braggs attitude towards all of this.....

Norton was funny once. Or was it twice ? As Fr. Noel Furlong in a couple of Fr. Ted episodes. Then he subsided into the slushy ' all round entertainer' role.

Bragg then is a one trick pony. The Bard of Barking picked a strange time to join the army. 1981. Perhaps he was having a personal crisis. But I'm not sure I'd trust his judgement tbh.

Both surely wealthy enough to step off the roundabout? Must be an ego thing .

I've stepped away from twitter because it is horrible. I generally think spending time on there is pointless

But I genuinely think that the tweets JKR makes have made and continue to make a difference

Because even though Bragg thinks that being 'a man of the left' automatically makes him the most compassionate, kind, clever, feminist and always correct person to ever walk the earth, when it comes to the crunch, for him men will always come before women. Its just bog standard misogyny really. OJ is exactly the same.

It's not that they actively hate women i dont think. They just don't see them as autonomous human beings who might have their own needs and desires that might mean that men can't just do what they want all the time. That their needs might clash with the needs of men. I just don't think it occurs to them that women might put themselves and their needs before men in certain situations.

JKR was referring to a tweet sent by Bragg when he visited Hamburg in May. He wrote: 'In the pavements are small brass plaques bearing the names of Jews who lived in the building opposite the plaque who were murdered by the Nazis. That began with people deciding they could define someone by their biology alone'.

Oh Christ, oh this is unbearable. That was in the context of the trans issue. Billy Bragg comparing it to the Holocaust. How could he do that?

Depressingly true. But surely the trans issue has been going on too long now for people to still claim they know nothing a out the effect in women and children? If they don’t give a damn about women (or even if they secretly feel pleased about women being put down), surely no ine can overlook the harm being done to children?

I am sick to the back teeth of misogynist men, bearded or not although the beard does seem to be a feature, telling women (a) what they are and (b) what they have to accept and put up with for men.

Billy Bragg fits that description to a T, if he doesn't like being labelled as such - tough he should maybe reflect on how he is labelling women and what right he has to do so.

I am not so sure it's about women per se.

I tend to think people like this have an inadequate view of how rights can interact. Or even say, not rights, but just how different individuals and groups have varying interests and needs that may in some cases not all align.

It's a very simplistic view that doesn't really acknowledge that there are pros and cons to every policy and they have to be balanced or accounted for in some way. It's just good vs bad to them. Trans is good so it can't, in their minds, be bad for women.

But people who think this way tend to treat all social and policy issues like that. They have simple minds.

I find this comparison nauseating.

Bragg’s grotesque comparison is a complete misunderstanding of the Stolpersteine (stumbling stones). They are meant to trip you out of your complacency - Bragg continues to bounce along in his bubble of smugness.
