Yes, it's genuine, as far as I can tell. Doesn't she often include links to merch? Didn't seem particularly out of line to me. I can forgive her the occasional typo.

Links to merchandise, sure. But I've never been asked to click if I'm not doing something. Maybe people have complained about getting emails on events that don't interest them? But why would you subscribe if you weren't interested? I'm interested even if I don't attend. And TBH I don't recall any typos before.

I think the message isn’t clear. It is asking you to click the link if you are interested in attending, presumably to continue getting emails about it. If you don’t click, they will stop sending emails to you about it, thereby reducing spamming for people not attending.

If you add a mental comma after the word 'attending' it makes sense:

To help reduce spamming those not attending, please click the link below if you are interested in coming to our talk in LA

But I can see how it could easily be read to be asking the opposite:

But, as you say, clear language is important - so the atypical lack of clarity would also make me suspicious.
