Solving the transwomen in sports issue

Out of the transgender arguments, this seems to be one that gets the most mainstream conversation.

Would it not be fairer & easier for athletic transwomen to:

  1. Go off all blockers/hormones (as drugs are not allowed in sport)
  2. Compete in the male division
  3. We remove the male division & call it Open category

This way, women's rights are not being infringed upon & the transwomen are now in an inclusive "Open" category where everyone can compete fairly.

I would really love to put this to a transactivist to see what they would say to this idea & how it could possibly be seen as unfair.

Point 2 is the only necessary option.

Kathryn, if this is a genuine request, you need to put it in Talk/NFP Surveys, with a link for details of your project, supervisor, ethical statement etc, not a personal email address.

They don't want to. That's what it boils down to.

Which is fair enough.

But choices have consequences, and 'I want' does not have to be indulged. If you choose not to participate in ways fair to women, then you're choosing not to participate at all. Both fair choices, take your pick.

You do not get to demand all the cake and eat it while shitting on women.

@PuttingDownRoots Yes, there doesn't seem to be much room with negotiation with this group.

Also it's not all sports really, just those based on physicality.

Eg: The shuffling teams in the recent Winter Olympics was mixed sex.

So there are sports that are inclusive & considered to be equal between men & women already!

Do you mean curling? There are 2 men and 2 women per team - you can't change that to 4 men, for example. Like there's mixed doubles in tennis, doesn't mean there's no sex advantage to men. Almost no sports are genuinely unisex. I think I read it was horseriding and 1 type of shooting. Sports are physical - that's the point, isn't it? If it's not physical, it's a board game.
