He has so much dignity. I wonder if the people who attacked him even knew who he was.

That is a terrific statement.

Hard to argue against any of it. That won’t stop some people trying, of course.

Abhannmor · 04/10/2022 11:25

I saw that. Looking good for 75. But he sounds a bit frail. And upset about it all of course. Hope he is OK.

No , I doubt the bullies who attacked him actually knew who he was. I'd bet most of them aren't even gay.

Bumping because this is important.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 04/10/2022 12:13

That's such a moving statement from Fred. A true gay icon.

JellySaurus · 04/10/2022 12:30

Awesome statement.

waterwitch · 04/10/2022 12:55

He’s awesome.

littlbrowndog · 04/10/2022 13:31

Fred 🙌🏽🙌🏽

DifficultBloodyWoman · 04/10/2022 13:37

Well said.

rageapplied · 04/10/2022 13:38

Wow. I have goosebumps listening to him.

ThatCheeseIsMine · 04/10/2022 13:47

I loved this - so calm, reasoned yet rightfully outraged. I don't actually see how anyone could watch that and think he doesn't have a point. What's happened to him reveals just how extreme and vicious the gender ideology movement (NOT trans people, the ideology) has become and how little sense it makes.

I hope this helps people who watch it to start asking some questions, if they aren't already.

Lemonyfuckit · 04/10/2022 13:53

We protect children who may grow up to be lesbian, gay, or bisexual from harmful, unscientific ideologies that may lead them to believe that either their personality or their body is in need of changing.

This. Just one of the (many) things so fundamentally wrong with the ideology - teaching children and young people that there is something wrong with their body and it needs changing. Your body can't be 'wrong', it's just your body. Absolutely society's 'gendered norms' need changing, gendered stereotypes harm both sexes.

Abhannmor · 04/10/2022 13:54

Bump.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 04/10/2022 14:26

that is an amazing statement

It just reinforces the need for LGBA

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 04/10/2022 17:24

Bumping this. It’s dignified and measured from someone who actually campaigned for gay rights and achieved stuff, rather than just posting copiously on twitter

BettyFilous · 04/10/2022 17:31

Fred’s interview with Julian Vigo on her Savage Minds podcast is worth a listen. It’s soothing listening to grown-up, thoughtful discussion.

FigRollsAlly · 04/10/2022 21:44

Just bumping.

Cailleach1 · 04/10/2022 22:21

This is a man who knows what rights are, then and now. The word brave is often so lightly used and misused that it becomes devoid of meaning I do think he is brave, and downright decent; all the more considering how he was assaulted by bandwagon harpies who wouldn't know an actual right from Adam.

catandcoffee · 05/10/2022 00:24

👏

MenopausalMe · 05/10/2022 09:54

Moving dignified statement, shame on the gay and lesbian rights campaigners ignoring what pioneers like him have to say
