GC women’s charities in the US

I’ve been given the opportunity to nominate a charity for a smallish (few thousand dollars) donation. I’d very much like to choose a women’s charity of some sort but unfortunately my very liberal city doesn’t generally understand what women are, so the local women’s shelters or rape crisis centres are out. I’ve tried googling but the top results are things like gendered intelligence 🙄 So does anyone have suggestions for a women’s charity that’s actually focused on women? A fully GC charity would be a bonus! For legal reasons the charity has to be based in the US.

A good place to start?

Thank you! Their website looks great.

A really important US one is the Fistula Foundation. I don’t know if they are openly GC, but the language on their website and materials is firmly sensible and would suggest so:

fistulafoundation.org/

(It’s a US charity, but provides funding to treat obstetric fistula in the developing world - something that is mainly overlooked, but can have a devastating impact on women’s bodies, lives and their children’s lives. Their funding docs look pretty good and it’s hard to imagine a charity that deals more with the reality of women’s bodily experience.)

Women’s Declaration USA is great!

Does the funding need to go to a 501(c)(3) or can it be any category of nonprofit?

Thank you for the suggestions. It does have to be a 501(c)(3) so was a bit limited but in the end I’ve gone for One Heart Worldwide which focuses on maternal and neonatal health. In the future I will certainly nominate the fistula foundation so thank you puffin.
Happy to let this thread die or it could become a place for feminist charity recommendations? (Ones that focus on the cunty women!)
