All of these awards are a total protection racket. My school is currently going for the Equaliteach Award. We pay them money to give us loads of work to do changing our policies and curriculum to match their requirement, then they give us a little badge for our letterhead to prove we arent evil. It's ostensibly about the whole Equality Act, but no prizes for guessing which PC is always front and centre....

Springburn’s a bit behind the times. Other houses are probably Sportan, OchAyaTheNoo, and Mel Gibson.

I live in another area of deprivation in Glasgow and am appalled by this. Schools in these areas need good solid teaching, not a whole lot more woo.

It hasn't. Area of very high deprivation. In terms of performance, 325th out of 340 in Scotland. From their website "Springburn Academy is a school in the North of Glasgow. It has 45% free meal entitlement and has a number of challenges which impact on leavers' destinations and examination results."

Clearly have their priorities very wrong.

My sister used to teach there. One kid - and we are talking primary - drew the blunt side of his penknife over her hand and ‘I could use this on you Miss but I won’t because we really like you’. And that was the teacher they liked.

I don't know about the school, but I know about the area, Dd lives there as that's where her and her BF can afford a nice flat, they are both Glasgow Uni students.
I was also over there recently during the "Doors Open" week to see the Piano City Pianos in Springburn Park.
It is a deprived area and to indoctrinate this into kids there is nothing short of criminal.

Same as when the army would recruit ‘cannon fodder’ from the poorest areas.

Dd called me a Terf a few months ago ffs and she didn't go to school in a deprived area, she is autistic though, but I know she gets it really, she's studying biology!
