I haven't seen a thread on this - sorry if there already is one. The Mail reveals some shocking details about the sex abuser who Sussex Police was defending last week, including that staff at Bronzefield are being made to feel very uncomfortable around Dixon:

But also some good news - according to the Times the new Justice Secretary Brandon Lewis is to announce a policy of allowing government ministers veto individual cases of trans women being placed in women's prisons:

They should be bloody vetoing all these mens’ access to women in prison. Enough! Was this a decision made by the judge or the prison service? There is no justification for this predator being enabled to continue his predating. That poor woman.

I think at the moment it's the prison service that decides where to put trans prisoners. I have no idea at all why they thought it appropriate to put a male sex offender who abused children in a women's prison, let alone one that has a mother-and-baby unit.

Thanks OP. Anyone have share token/archive for the Times piece please?

From the article. I despair - what has Starmer got to say about this.

However, the Mail can reveal that shortly after arriving at Bronzefield she had to be transferred to a different wing, after starting a relationship with a ‘vulnerable’ inmate. Still more disturbingly, a prison source told us the woman Dixon targeted had ‘learning difficulties’ and mental health issues.

‘The prisoner was vulnerable so we managed to get Dixon moved,’ said the source.

Given her catalogue of crimes, we might think she would wish to lie low. Not so, says our informant. ‘Dixon was very outspoken about being transgender. There were a few instances when it was reported she had made inappropriate comments to some of the female prisoners, and possibly staff.

‘The comments were sexual stuff, flirtatious stuff. Once Dixon was allowed to associate with everyone else, it was very hard to keep an eye on her. She was told she wasn’t allowed to go into people’s rooms, but once they are unlocked we don’t have the staff

Sickening.

Every single woman imprisoned with a man is vulnerable, learning difficulties or not. He shouldn't be around female inmates, full stop!

How the hell do they think this is ok! Beggars belief.

Rightsraptor · 01/10/2022 21:25

Of course the woman Dixon targeted was vulnerable. He's spent his life pursuing the vulnerable so why's he going to stop once he's got himself into a womens prison?

It beggars belief that these people in authority can't or won't see what Dixon and his ilk are doing.

So much for all the talk of risk assessment. It was clearly a farce, or non existent.

FFS and all this under the Tories who supposedly laugh at Labour for not knowing what a woman is.
They're responsible at the end of the day. The Tories have literally written the law for the past 12 years and this is what we get.
