"New trans law will destroy women’s rights in Spain"

This is a report in the Times about proposals for gender self-ID in Spain. It's even worse than the one that was proposed in the UK.

I'm sorry, I don't have a share token, but hopefully someone else does.

When parental permission is required, how long before parents are under so much social pressure they are too scared to say no?

I live in Spain. It's not exactly how it is being reported.

Spanish people are largely in favour.

Why does it bother you , you don't live here

Just like human rights, women’s rights are indivisible, maddy68. Saying that we shouldn’t care about women’s rights in Spain is like saying we shouldn’t care about what is currently happening in Iran.

In what way is the Times article incorrect? As for public opinion, that can change very quickly, as we have seen in the UK, where, apparently, a majority no longer support the GRA.

Once the public understands that some versions of ‘trans rights’ lead to male sex offenders in women’s prisons and the destruction of women’s sports, as well as lack of clarity in language and policy, it tends to change its mind. Because most people are not raging misogynists.

Because it's largely supported by the voters here.

It isn't as simple as saying that with parental consent this will happen. The artical is poor and doesn't have the detail.

The person would have to have undergone many medical interventions before the final 'ok'. Including social care , psychological evaluations by multiple agencies, and even if they agree it wouldn't be authorised without the parental consent

A couple of years ago people would have said the same thing of self-ID: that it looked as if the majority of people supported it. But clearly the majority didn't at that point understand what it would really mean — which is the obliteration of women's rights and the triumph of misogyny and homophobia. I can't believe, knowing Spanish women, that they would be happy with that. Where do you stand, Maddy68?
