The NHS App has a feature for seeing hospital appointments. Useful I thought and went to log in.

To make my account I had to choose from the following genders:
Unknown
Male
Female
Indeterminate

I'm assuming they actually mean biological sex here?
Surely the NHS knows that sex is binary and immutable? And yes, this covers people with DSDs (intersex conditions) too?

This part of the service is run by something called "Patients Know Best". I'd like to suggest that your biological sex is a fact, not a feeling.

Well, I'm not really sure what my gender is, as I have no inner sense of gender identify and a fairly even split between stereotypical male and female interests, so that's no help. I guess that makes me indeterminate?

I think it can be the only way forward.... not sure it's going to help with who to call for a smear test though.

Indeterminate 😂 Fucking hell. And this is our health service?

If you to believe some of the posters on Twitter that females become more male after menopause (and more recently something about women who carry male babies being more male), I think intermediate is probably more fitting for me than indeterminate.

I wonder, if I answer male will I no longer need my HRT to manage menopausal anxiety?
