Dame Vera Baird is resigning as victim's commisioner. She's going to be a great loss.

I don’t know. I’m inclined to take her statement in that article at face value. The ethics aren’t straightforward and she obviously knew more about the case than we do.

I’m horrified to learn the Victim’s Commissioner has been sidelined to this extent. That is a worrying statement about governmental priorities.

As PCC, it is your job to hold the Chief to account. It's written into the statute. They also have particular responsibilities to victims and especially to children. I was shocked she got the VC gig after what she did.

I have just been reading a bit about this. I think she did her job too well. Disappointed to see her go, she spoke out very clearly particularly around CPS and rape/sexual assault.
