"I feel absolutely stoked that @wpath have dropped the age guidance on trans youth. Every single trans teenager deserves exactly the same development opportunity as cis teens. Social, emotional and physical development is crucial during those teenage years. 🏳️‍⚧️💜🏳️‍⚧️"

Feel sick.

Also feel sick. Is that her declaration she intends to treat children of any age?

MrsMidClegs · 20/09/2022 13:17

I think that's what she is getting at without saying it out loud.
Those lawyers need to start circling.

Every single trans teenager deserves exactly the same development opportunity as cis teens. Social, emotional and physical development is crucial during those teenage years.

The way to give them this is to ensure that their development is not delayed by puberty blockers or disrupted by wrong sex hormones.

Redshoeblueshoe · 20/09/2022 13:25

Isn't she still suspended ?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/09/2022 13:27

Saying the quiet bit loud AGAIN

TheClogLady · 20/09/2022 14:02

GenderGP have never stopped prescribing to minors, btw.

They’ll even prescribe without parental consent and pay for the entire process (including prescriptions) for a year.

TheClogLady · 20/09/2022 14:09

No doubt WPATH’s latest madness has made Webberly feel thoroughly vindicated despite scores of teen FtM patients reporting little to no post prescription supervision resulting in Polycythaemia (and teens sharing ‘spares’ obtained from GenderGP with their friends).

ChickenonaMug · 20/09/2022 14:17

Of course Helen Webberley is delighted with WPATH’s new child guidance because according to the lead author of the ‘child’ chapter, the age guidance was dropped to protect doctors such as Helen from being sued for malpractice. It was also designed to find the sweet spot so that insurance companies in the US would keep paying out to the clinicians prescribing or operating on the children.

Blimey!

TheClogLady · 20/09/2022 15:15

Wow. They really did say the quiet bit out loud.

Luckily HW has stated that she is going to appeal which mean that she will remain suspended until the appeal has been heard. Happily this will keep her away from “treating” children for a good while longer.

Signalbox · 20/09/2022 17:03

This is quite an interesting document. It is the GDC considering whether or not to appeal the decision of the MPT. There were some concerns over the determination but not so much so that an appeal would have been worth while. They were critical that committee hadn’t considered promoting and maintaining public confidence and proper standards and conduct for the medical profession. Also critical of the leniency of the period of suspension. Hopefully when HW appeals these concerns will be addressed.

I thought they'd dropped the age guidance because most people reading it thought the ages were far too low so I'm not sure it's anything to get excited about.
