'feminists and survivors shouldn’t be wasting our time proving to the likes of you that gender identity does not abate male pattern violence, the onus should be on you to explain how it possibly can'

I’ve read about this case but can’t find a link - I recall it was an older male sibling sexually abused younger siblings including holding them under water to frighten them into silence. This was over a number of years. They “identified as a woman” as the case came to court and then wanted to be placed in a woman’s prison, which was denied, so the magistrate released them!

The writer is pulling no punches! Worth a read.

“The gaslighting involved in telling the so many millions of female survivors in this country that men can become women with pronouns is astounding, and it is institutional sexual abuse.”

“The use of shame to erode women’s sexual boundaries is rape culture.“

This is a really powerful letter from Edie Wyatt. Here she is being interviewed a couple of months ago by Angie Jones and Stassja Frei.

I'm half way through. Thank you for the link. What a woman to express herself in such clear language.

It makes me so profoundly angry that we continue to seek and create the right, the best formulation of words to express what this means for survivors of male violence. And yet.

The transgender woman, who was male at the time of the alleged offending, has entered pleas of not guilty

the paedophile who was, still is and will forever be male.

Let out because being put in prison with other men would've upset his lady feelz.

Outstanding letter.

As ever, I'm conflicted because women shouldn't have to disclose trauma to have our boundaries and, "No" respected.

MoltenLasagne · 17/09/2022 11:59

72 charges against him and he was released. Her anger is completely understandable.

Wow. That is a fantastic letter, so powerful. Thank you Edie.

Yes, I know just what you mean.

We can't win, either. To disclose means we are accused of 'weaponising our trauma'.

At the same time, the arguments made for allowing males into female spaces often refer to fear/discomfort and anecdotal instances of trauma.

(I'm not denigrating trauma by calling it 'anecdotal').

But there is an uncomfortable feeling that women are coerced into disclosure in order to prove our boundaries worthy and reasonable.

Wow! A blistering letter indeed. I'd be interested in seeing the reply.
