Brilliant summary of why women's sports should be for biological females only

"Ana Paula Henkel, a former Brazilian Olympic volleyball player, has taken a very public and equally unapologetic stand against male-to-female transgender athletes in sport. She wrote an open letter to the IOC in December 2018 opposing its policy toward transgender athletes titled, “In defense of women’s professional sports.”

She wrote, “It is with respect, but much concern that I write to all entities responsible for sport, about the threat to the virtue of women’s competitions that now occurs with the acceptance of athletes that were born men, developed muscle mass, bone mass, lung and air capacity as men, in forms of sport created and formatted specifically for women. If someone has to go public and pay a price in the name of truth, common sense and fact, I’m willing to bear the consequences.

“… Is it fair to simply pretend away undeniable biological differences in the name of a political ideology which will serve to restrict a space so hard won by women who struggled for it for so many centuries? How to accept ‘biological’ men in fighting competitions, pitilessly hitting women, and then gaining acclaim, medals and money for it? Have we all gone so crazy as to permit such degradation?

“… How long are we going to keep quiet while we witness this? I refuse to. … There is a just and pertinent conversation to be had about the prejudices surrounding transexuality and homosexuality. Transexuals’ inclusion in society needs to be accepted, but this rushed and heedless decision to include biological men, born and built with testosterone, with their height, their strength and aerobic capacity of men, is beyond the sphere of tolerance. It represses, embarrasses, humiliates and excludes women.”

The full article is very interesting but I've lost it trying to post this. I'll be back in a minute.

Good for her! I think I may have found the article.

Brave Ana 👏

I always think how unbelievably unfair it is also to transmen!!! How on Earth are they ever going to be able to be included in the Olympics?! They would never be any competition at all to cismen!

How selfish these transwomen are 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am of the opinion that they should be campaigning for men's, women's and trans's categories. That way trans athletes could get good publicity AND sponsorship!!! Money!!! Yeah!! Isn't that a good thing?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's just so ridiculous that anyone has to say this and potentially lose their careers for this. It's common sense, and evident and observable and every single vaguely cognisant person knows it.

I am genuinely not sure how people who spout the trans nonsense manage to look at themselves in the mirror each day.

I wish there was an easy answer. I've read interviews with Andraya Yearwood and have a ton of sympathy for them....but Andraya and another transitioned male won 15 state women's titles and broke records between them! That's not fair and clearly a biological advantage. I think "Open Category" and "Biological Female" is the only way forward but I don't think that will make transgender people happy.

Or they accept that women spend their lives sacrificing their careers, health, lives for other people and they did choose to join the "women" club....be careful what you wish for!

I've got zero sympathy for males who elbow their way into women's spaces, sports and language. 'No' is a complete sentence.

Agree 100%

I have no sympathy for Andraya Yearwood or any male who pushes his way into women's spaces, sports, services and language - none, zero, nada.

I don't care what form of spaces, sports, services or language they come up with for their particular needs and wants on the proviso that anything to do with women or for women is strictly off limits.

No need to feel sorry for Andraya Yearwood or CeCe Telfer (the other athlete you're thinking of). Their transition process is minimal and they have taken college scholarships and acclaim from deserving women. Telfer was ranked between 300 and 400 when competing in men's athletics. A year or two of "transition" later, and hey presto, a ranking of #1 achieved. The reason for transitioning is irrelevant because the effect is the same - gross unfairness to the women in the event.

BellaAmorosa · 11/09/2022 17:16

@ZeldaFighter
So basically, there is an easy answer - no males in women's sport. Ever. Sorted.
