Approached for a job

Hi all,
I have been approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn for a Director level role at the Tavistock clinic ... I thought that the service was being disbanded?
I've replied and said no thanks but it seems strange that the media says the service is closing and going regional but they are recruiting for a big role.
Anyone have any insight?

Maybe they just want to get a few more mutiliations in before they go down?

I'm not an expert but 'The Tavistock' is much more than just a gender clinic. It covers all sorts of other services, mainly mental health type things I think.

I think only the gender identity service is closing, the trust is a much bigger outfit focusing on mental health more generally.

The Tavistock & Portman nhs trust provides a lot of services. It’s not just GIDS

Yes I think it's just GIDs that is being closed down, I think the Tavistock and Portman trust is more diverse than just gender identity.

GIDS is only one floor in the Tavistock. I think there’s at least 4 floors there from what I can remember.

Approached for a job at director level and you don't even know what the Tavistock actually is?

Yes Saphire. Niche role, been working out of London for a while and have only seen what’s been in the media/ forums etc. Came on here to ask a question, got very helpful answers. Not sure what the issue is?

This forum hardly seems the most likely place to get that information- as opposed looking at the Tavistock's own website or asking the person who contacted you?

I don't really understand your post- you've been asked if you want to consider a job in a "niche role" but you can't either ask the recruiter for more information or use Google?

You should have Googled it, checked it out on LinkedIn, sector publications etc, like any other professional at that level would.
