Come on Labour, read the room

Not the best person for the job though is she?

PurpleDaisies · 05/09/2022 12:42

Female or not, she’s utterly useless.

pannikin · 05/09/2022 12:42

I don't really think we can be congratulating the Tory party for progressing women's rights on the basis of having three female leaders over 50 years Hmm

prepared101 · 05/09/2022 12:43

She was the best of a bad bunch- elected by the Conservative party not the general population.

She's just addressed Boris as her "friend". Don't hold your breath.

silverfalls · 05/09/2022 12:43

A wishy washy flipper flopper

A wishy washy flipper flopper

Best description so far

klipwa · 05/09/2022 12:44

I can't stand her

GoingOnce · 05/09/2022 12:44

They’ve done more to further women’s rights than Labour who are actively seeking to crush them.

Wirewool · 05/09/2022 12:44

At least she knows what a woman is. Unlike Labour and co.

Tallisker · 05/09/2022 12:45

Nope not keen but we have what we have and Labour are never going to put up much of a show against the current shower of shite until they get their act together on who is a woman and who is not

OP posts:
girlmom21 · 05/09/2022 12:46

She would never win an election.

chilliesandspices · 05/09/2022 12:46

It would be nice to get a competent, elected, female prime minister. I don't think Liz will survive an election. She's hardly going to be inspiring the girls of today to aim for leadership.

Angela Rayner doesn't know that either though.

Hoardasurass · 05/09/2022 12:48

Whilst I'm glad that we have a gc pm I really do worry about her competence in other areas.
@pannikin she may only be the 3rd Conservative pm/leader in 42(not 50) years but its 3 more than any other party barring the SNP

honkeytonkwoman38 · 05/09/2022 12:49

I'd rather it was the first mouse leading the country that that specimen!

FreddyHG · 05/09/2022 12:50

I see the obvious non conservative women on here are keen to put the boot in already. I'm sure kemi would have won too if she had been put through. Well done Liz just don't bankrupt with labour type spending and encourage some personal responsibility with a small state and I say this as a Rishi supporter.

Topseyt123 · 05/09/2022 12:50

Don't like her. Will she be another Theresa May type and just flap around on everything?

Not keen on Sunak either, but think he might have been marginally the better of a bad choice.

Labour and others really need to get their act together now.

stillherenow · 05/09/2022 12:52

Rachel Reeves please . Plus I suspect she knows what a woman is.

I don't think she's a flapper. She's much more likely to say things without thinking of the consequences. That's my fear - she's very much a 'say what's in my head' kind of person.

She'll do what she wants and then to gaslight afterwards.

Notjusta · 05/09/2022 12:53

While I want all our politicians to be clear about what a woman is, and am constantly disappointed that so may on the left are throwing us under a bus, I am pretty sure that Liz Truss will do nothing to advance the position of women and girls in our society.

ChristinaXYZ · 05/09/2022 13:05

Delighted she has won. She seems most likely to protect our rights. And I hope she gives Kemi Health or Education as both need really sorting out. And unless Labour replace Starmer with someone like Rosie Duffield I will probably vote Conservative at the next election. After 25+ years of voting for Labour - they lost me with Corbyn and the second referendum stuff and followed that up with the women's rights debacle. As a PP said - it really is time to read the room Labour. I would like a genuine choice at election time - I really hope Labour do start to put their house in order.

Why are you sure?

rogdmum · 05/09/2022 13:07

I think outside of women’s rights/child safeguarding, her leadership will be an absolute shitshow and the Tories will lose the next general election under her. Therefore, best to try to get as much progress as possible under her (ie keep momentum up) so that when Labour do get into power there’s a vast amount for them to roll back- make it as hard as possible for them.

Findwen · 05/09/2022 13:07

Starting with Thatcher, then Major, Hague, Duncan-smith, Howard, Cameron, May, Borris, Truss:

9 PMs, 3 are women. Since they retook power in 2010, it has been male, female, male, female. That's not bad representation I think.

ImherewithBoudica · 05/09/2022 13:10

Considering I know what Labour would do to women's rights, access, equality and safeguarding, at high speed and with glee, the Conservatives would have to field Freddy Kruger before I ceased to vote Tory.

I'll have any amount of incompetence and sleaze and anything else please over the let's ditch women's rights mob.
