So it seems like Dr Martens are now supporting our favouring children’s LGBTQ++++ charity. How disappointing!

They think: virtue signaling win!
I think: blood on your scummy corporate hands.

FunnyTalks · 04/09/2022 17:44

How fucking backwards of them.

I will stop bloody advertising them for free on the style pages then.

I will not support organisations in favour of medicalising gay and autistic children.

Saucery · 04/09/2022 17:45

Glad I switched to Solovair. Bye bye, Doc Martens!

Glenthebattleostrich · 04/09/2022 17:51

Oh FFS.

KittenKong · 04/09/2022 18:03

They’ve been in my sh*t list for a while anyway. I can’t even remember why now! Probably a stunt like this.

Cheekymaw · 04/09/2022 18:07

Solovair it is then. W*nkers. Overpriced these days anyway

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 04/09/2022 18:34

Disappointed. Though probably not as disappointed as the company when they see the pitiful number of likes and check out the savage quote tweets.

If they were going to endorse Mermaids it would've been better if they'd done it several years ago. Nowadays, what with Cass and the Tavistock GIDS closing...

PaleBlueMoonlight · 04/09/2022 19:11

I havd never heard of solovair. They are beautiful.

Saucery · 04/09/2022 19:15

PaleBlueMoonlight · 04/09/2022 19:11

I havd never heard of solovair. They are beautiful.

They were the original makers of Dr Martens, before production of DMs moved abroad (and saw a considerable drop in quality).

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 04/09/2022 19:36

Ooh that’s a ratio!

NotBadConsidering · 04/09/2022 21:23

Whenever I see a ridiculous medical report justifying a female child being “trans” because she’s wearing “boys’ clothes” I always think of the 1990s when girls wearing jeans and DMs was just normal. DM should be helping us get back to that, not reinforcing such stereotypical bullshit.

Alexaplaykatebush · 04/09/2022 21:27

What is wrong with these companies?
Of all the charities they chose this toxic mess?
Wagamama now dr.martens.
I need new boots, I really wanted a pair of stacked Dr martens after my old ones wore out after years of daily wear, guess I will have to shop around.

KittenKong · 04/09/2022 22:30

So doc martins would have had me medicalised on the basis that my 1980s mid-teen self wore small mens doc Martin boots (because their hadn’t clocked into the marketing potential of selling to girls and women back the) and mens jeans? On the ‘professional opinion’ of these ghouls?

Do they even know their own history?

Penguintears · 04/09/2022 22:35

Have they blocked the comments? I can only see 3 positive comments.

yoshinobu · 04/09/2022 23:02

are we not allowed to mention mermaids on here?

MalingeringMary · 04/09/2022 23:18

Solovair all the way, even before this. They ARE beautiful, and hand made in England.

MangyInseam · 04/09/2022 23:58

yoshinobu · 04/09/2022 23:02

Yes, it says that only people who are friends of Mermaids can comment.

I don't know who does their marketing but they are really behind the 8-ball on this.

MangyInseam · 04/09/2022 23:59

Ooops, quoted wrong post, meant the one next to it.

TheKeatingFive · 05/09/2022 00:08

Gosh what a time to be aligning themselves with MMs. Very unfortunate.

This!

blublub · 05/09/2022 00:14

I was going to buy a pair of their boots for autumn. Guess I won’t be now!

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 05/09/2022 00:20

Solovair all the way!

Girlgroopsurvivoronlyjust · 07/09/2022 16:50

So according to Doc Martens , it would have been ok for 15 year old me who was a skinny wee Smiths fan complete with flat top, DM boots and jeans to have my breasts and womb removed ? Mermaids are fecking hideous. Do these companies not do a bit of basic research?

LizzieSiddal · 07/09/2022 17:33

I wear Dr Martens sandals all summer long and their suede boots all winter.
Won’t be buying any more from a company who supports this dangerous charity.

Thanks for the Solovair link!

Saucery · 07/09/2022 17:58

I was another young teen who wore Docs, army fatigues and a donkey jacket with short hair. A dangerous Look where the likes of Mermaids are concerned Sad
