Family day out. Then my 13 year old daughter and I had to walk past 3 rows of urinals with men pissing in them to then experience disgusting piss laden toilets. My daughter is introverted and very cleanliness driven. It maybe ok for the robust but it broke my heart. This is a one off of course but I am not supporting this as policy in the U.K. just for a minority.

I mean toilets are toilets!!! What do you expect at big mass events with tens of thousands of people in attendance....

MrsJamin · 07/09/2022 12:23

I expect toilets which shield you from seeing genitals of the opposite sex, no matter how many people are at the event. Are you female or male, @Spanky123 ?

SudocremOnEverything · 07/09/2022 12:28

If you’re providing urinals, which are sex-specific because they simply cannot be used by people with female genitalia, then you have very clearly already determined that you need sex-specific toilet facilities.

You should, therefore, be providing separate sex-specific toileting facilities for women too.

It’s interesting how men are still being provided for (sort of) separately, isn’t it?

Spanky123 · 07/09/2022 12:47

Why does my gender matter?
The original post didn't refer to being able to see genitals... I imagine the most practical toilets were put on given the size of the event and budget. This is wokism at its finest!!

Fifteen reports of transgressive behaviour at Dutch Grand Prix

Here's another article (in Dutch) from the NOS, which is the Netherlands' equivalent to the BBC:

nos.nl/artikel/2443465-ongewenst-gedrag-bij-formule-1-in-zandvoort-nog-nooit-zo-vernederd-gevoeld

and a screenshot of a relevant paragraph I've run through a translator

You weren’t asked your gender, you were asked if you were male or female (ie. your sex)…

MrsJamin · 07/09/2022 15:07

Your sex has everything to do with how you perceive open urinals, that's why I asked.🙄
Where's the "wokism"? Your posts don't make any sense.
Oh and they totally oversold the Bronze level access (ie no seat) so the toilet areas were totally overwhelmed with people at all times.

the being able to see genitals is clearly implied by the open urinals with men pissing in them. Unless men somehow don’t have to get their penises out to piss in a urinal.

It is interesting that you think the ‘most practical’ toilets are those that make special provision for male anatomy such that people with female anatomy are made to feel uncomfortable and unsafe.

Practical for what, and whose, purposes?

MrsJamin · 07/09/2022 15:41

Exactly. I don't think men have an inkling how aggressive and repulsive it is for women to see urinals.

SudocremOnEverything · 07/09/2022 18:36

Urinals in use. Because they’re not merely ornamental. Women aren’t being over sensitive about seeing men stand there holding their penises to urinate.

The very fact there are urinals is a statement that there are biological differences that matter and require different facilities. Otherwise they just wouldn’t provide them. Would they?

SudocremOnEverything · 07/09/2022 18:37

It’s a ‘we are only providing men’s toilets. You women can just put up with that’ situation.

I expected clean single sex toilets at the French GP. And I got them.

Feel free to stick to your low expectations, fortunately the organizers of the French GP realised that many of us set our sights higher in terms of comfort, cleanliness, dignity and safety.

hohohosbeforebros · 11/09/2022 09:04

@Ndd135632 Thing that gets me is why the urinals are at the front and you need to walk past them to the toilets.

Because if the cubicles were at the front men would just use them because they're nearest. Human nature and thoughtlessness rather than malice, but another reason why separate toilets are needed.

hohohosbeforebros · 11/09/2022 09:13

@MrsJamin They cheered when Lewis crashed at Spa. Scumbags. And you could hear boos behind Lewis when he had his post-race interview on Sunday and not behind Russell. The different way they treat the Mercedes drivers is very telling. Verstappen clearly doesn't think any differently to his fans as he has never shown any sportsmanship towards Lewis. His father also holds racist views and Verstappen didn't distance himself from them.

And Hamilton fans cheered when Verstappen crashed at Silverstone. No one should be cheering anyone crashing until they're out and walking away unhurt.

And you could hear the boos behind Verstappen when he was being interviewed at Silverstone. Both sets of fans are as bad as each other.

Of course there's rivalry between Hamilton and Verstappen, they're the two giants of this generation and Russell isn't part of that rivalry. But there was plenty of cheering when Russell crashed out of qualifying at Austria, so where's the different treatment?

Jos Verstappen is a piece of shit though, you're right there.

Cloudonthemountains · 11/09/2022 10:26

Max Verstappen is pretty widely disliked. He was booed at the French GP.

bob78 · 11/09/2022 10:29

He was booed heavily at Montreal too, not sure if that came across on the cameras.
