Gender theory in US schools

Helen Joyce posted a link to this on Twitter - 'Gender Theory in Schools – Two Things the TERFs Get Right (Plus Two Things They Get Wrong)'. It's by a US high school teacher and says some interesting things about how the trans movement is developing in schools over there, which I think are probably relevant to the UK as well. (it's well-written and funny too.)

This is really interesting. An insider's view.

Everything he's said resonates with my experience.

Most adults are passively accepting, believing the authorities know what is going on. The really weird stuff they believe is outliers being weirdos.

The (mainly girls) I have contact with are not wanting to date other girls in the main, they see themselves as gay boys, and like to read things like the Heartstopper series. They might date a transboy but that seems to be as much about a safe outlet for their interest in boy band types.

I'd guess that lots of trans boys must find it difficult to find a boyfriend.

I liked his reasoning for using the t*rf word too - ‘If you have your own preferred term for someone who thinks transgenderism is too sexist, as opposed to not sexist enough, then feel free to substitute that one in here.’ A succinct definition of the difference between GC feminists and right wing religious fundamentalists.
