So here’s a research job in the NHS that you’re invited to tender for, for NHS LGBTQ*.

(Before reading further you might like to guess which of those letters the focus is on?

...correct).

It’s to research how “leaders” in the NHS can be better trans allies.

And strategies for dealing with “anti-trans organisations and individuals”.

Does this look like asking how to treat some people differently based on their protected characteristic of belief?

Or treating some organisations as hostile - to the NHS! - on their basis of (let’s guess) their support of women’s rights, of of LGB people?

Anyway... in case anyone wants to apply ... here it is.

Supporting them by telling them they need to adhere to the law, maybe? optimism never dies

How sad when the NHS is crying out for actual essential ward staff.

Wonder whether they've as extensive a network to "improve the staff experience and patient outcomes" for all the women and babies currently suffering and dying from appalling and dangerous maternity care?

Probably not.

This.

When is a transwoman not a woman? When it’s time to prioritise who gets the money.

Why didn't they just farm this out to SW? And who or what actually are these anti trans organisations?

Chrysanthemum5 · 22/08/2022 22:16

£20,000 for this total bollocks

This is a stand alone charitable organisation. It's funded by membership fees, proceeds from events and grants and awards. Would be interesting to see who is providing the last two.

The use of the term anti trans seems very confrontational and not in line with inclusion. It would also be interesting to know if this is niche work being done by the LBGT network without any wider supervision.

strategies for dealing with “anti-trans organisations and individuals”.

AKA females wanting single sex spaces and hcps.

Given the timescales for the submission, interview, and start (by Sept 22) they've plausibly a fair idea of who will tender and succeed.

Sex Matters have written a great letter asking for this to be reconsidered at board level. Well worth reading- good for them. (Scroll down on link to see full content of the letter)
Dear Matthew and Victor,

We are writing to you to express concerns about the tender for “trans allyship research” recently published by the NHS Confederation, which is out of line with the Equality Act, including the Public Sector Equality Duty. It is founded on an approach that promotes discrimination against people who do not share a belief in gender ideology. Such an approach has been found to be unlawful in practice (See Forstater v CGD & Ors [2022] and Bailey v Garden Court and Stonewall [2022]). It also promotes an approach that is out of line with the Nolan Principles on public life.

Excellent letter. I will be drawing my MP's attention to this and to the response it receives.
