Don't know what the program is but interesting discussion on wokeness being like a religion especially on social media and has touched on trans issues, as well as racism.

It's Helen Lewis. She's always worth s listen. I'll be catching the repeat on Sunday.

Her weekly Bluestocking email is good.

It was called The Church of Social Justice.

I listen to R4 as and when, and I have little routine right now so it is very random which programmes I catch.

I just heard it- or at least the second half - it was good. As someone brought up religious and now a humanist I think she identified some of the things I've thought about organised religion- that it can often be a force for good, inspiring people to behave well even when they don't want to. Also providing a sense of community and tradition which is lacking in secular circles. She seemed to be saying that for young adults left wing politics can provide that sense of community and righteousness that religion has traditionally provided.
I think it's easier to behave well when there is a blueprint that everyone around you also adheres to. This can be good or it can be bad!
